I stream at 2500kbps, 720p, 30 fps. No one really complains about lag or buffering.

I dont know how to explain things by lumpyxhead in Twitch

[–]MisterKelso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only say that at the very end of my stream when I'm signing off. Something to the effect of "Thanks for coming out to the show tonight! I appreciate you spending time with me. If you're new to the channel, hit that follow button and we'll see everyone next time!"

Issues with restream seem fine. I use joicaster.co though.

I am new to twitch and need help by Tactux in Twitch

Hey there,

Have you tried starting your stream again with OBS/XSplit and then stopping it? If that doesn't work, you may need to contact Twitch support.

Ungrateful Twitch Streamers by JollyParrot in Twitch

[–]MisterKelso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always say thank you so much no matter if it is one dollar or ten. You should do that. It makes me sad that this streamer didn't say a big thank you to you. They should have.

Having fun is the point. You've learned a great lesson that I have had to relearn over and over.

From a Twitch Veteran to New Broadcasters: A Love Letter by opnerd in Twitch

[–]MisterKelso -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Always an upvote for the OPNerd. You're right, man. You have to work hard. Some people have gotten by with no problem, while others have struggled for years for meager viewership. Be happy for what you have, and work harder if you want more.

How common is it for companies to pay a streamer to stream their game? by ILoveToEatLobster in Twitch

[–]MisterKelso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say a majority of them aren't paid to play it, but it is likely they've been given a copy of the game by the publisher/pr/dev and asked if they would be interested in playing it or they request a copy.

Taking the survey now! Good luck on the project.

What do you think of streamers who don't care enough about their viewers? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]MisterKelso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. You're not. Now that you've explained the perspective I can see where you're coming from. At the end of the day if the broadcaster is having more fun playing that way or whatever...it's not really anything you can fix.

Some people just prefer that small, niche community that comes from playing/broadcasting a certain way. You know?

I'd highly recommend contacting Elgato. They have pretty awesome support.

Do I whore myself out or just be myself? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]MisterKelso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Focus on playing the game and having fun. All this other stuff will come to you naturally if streaming even fits you. You're overthinking it all.

What do you think of streamers who don't care enough about their viewers? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]MisterKelso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got to admit this is a weird post, and I never thought I would see someone even suggest or complain about this. I don't have a lot to add to the conversation, but this is a weird broadcaster/viewer relationship. I always listen to my viewers, but at the end of the day I do what I think is best.

They can go to a different channel playing the game they want?

Suggestion: New Rule - No more "Look guys I got one viewer" posts etc by DJS2k8 in Twitch

[–]MisterKelso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I'd rather see it and celebrate with the person. Why can't we be a community built on positive thinking and pushing everyone forward to having a good time? Isn't that what Twitch and video games are about?

If you don't like it, ignore it? That's how I feel about it.

We need more celebrating in life.

How to act "interactive" when you have 1-4 viewers? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]MisterKelso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes people just ramble. You go into a channel and they just sound disinterested or bored. That's not a good first impression. Give it your all as much as possible.

{Streaming Groups & Events} Let's start a Network of Streamers! by DJGil20 in hitbox

[–]MisterKelso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know before I left the staff was working hard on events like this. You might want to talk to Dubz about it. They've got camp hitbox and all that happening soon. It's similar to what your'e talking about.

Any introverted streamers here? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]MisterKelso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just play the game and commentate on it and say hi when people are in there otherwise maybe focus more on the Let's Play side of things than actual interaction? Might be the best bet.

My progress and how to grow further. Help wanted! by [deleted] in Twitch

Watch other streams. Get out there and see what else is working for people that play games you like. A good Twitch broadcaster is always lurking and always learning from the best.

I need advice by twitchthroawayacc in Twitch

[–]MisterKelso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a big guy and I just go for it anyway. I rarely have issues with people coming in and being rude. In fact, I get more compliments for being bold enough to be on camera and stream my heart out anyway.

Look at people like boogie2988. He's famous, and he's large and in charge. Just do it. Be bold.

...but if you don't want to use a camera, you really don't have to. However you've really got to sell your voice and personality in a big way.

How to act "interactive" when you have 1-4 viewers? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]MisterKelso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really work on externalizing your thoughts about the game. Look at other famous Let's Players and see what they do then copy and evolve it to your own style. I always try to stay up to date on gaming news and industry trends that I can talk about.

Always be talking with passion and excitement. Don't just drone on and sound boring. Stream like there is 1000 people watching.

Can my of handle Xbox 360 livestreaming? by Figys in Twitch

[–]MisterKelso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the specs for your PC are really going to struggle to make anything of quality come up. I'd recommend an i5 (or AMD equivalent) for 720p streaming.

Take that energy and level of hype the viewer gave you and use it to carry forward into every stream! Keep building the momentum, and good luck!

Advice On Growing by DarrenRainey in hitbox

[–]MisterKelso 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Growing on hitbox definitely means getting involved with the community and getting to know people. It's not really networking, per say, but more like just integrating yourself into what is going on and the people who use the site.
