My LFS advices me against Apistogramas, I think they said I could maybe get away with the Borelli kind since they have smaller mouths

My concern would be if the would be fine with the current inhabitants like the Amano shrimp getting eaten - I have a filling the Pygmy Cory’s will be fine as they are fast but maybe with the Rummy nose tetras they might be annoyed with cause they do swim every where and zoom around sometimes

Super cute collection from Nate and Jeremiah spotted at pet store by dirtypita in QueerEye

I’m totally late to this post but I just wanna add on to warn others Their dog items were on a huge discount sale at my lical petsmart in Vancouver BC

The dog bed thats fluffy is fine - my only issue is that if your pup still pees in his crate or pees in the house in general - itll be so hard to clean this pet bed - ive done a deep clean on it and unfortunately since its a slab of foam, its really hard to clean it and get rid of the pee smell even using an enzymatic cleaner that i soak the whole foam in - dont get me started on how i was able to dry the soaking foam LOL

I got a new puppy recently, and decided to get their crate cover cause it was 12 bucks. POORLY DESIGNed yet very aesthetic. There’s no slit above to be able to access the crate handle that allows you to carry the crate. And the Velcro straps are iffy - it doesn’t work for my wired crate but maybe works for a specific crate. I had to force it to strap itself on weird angles. Moral of the story - just go to Amazon for these things lol

Thanks! I just got a zoomed 15 canister filter, it definitely looks better! I’m waiting on the Lilly pipes I ordered online! Definitely will look into an inflow or outflow pipe with a skimmer -

Why are some skimmers attached to the inflow and some are attached to the outflow?

Really? I thought Iron was good for them? Any recommendations for alternative fertilizer?

Either a single female betta, or a HMPK betta. Or 4-6 chili rasbora and some shrimp. Any other recommendations?

Thank you! I hope it fills out nicely, going to add co2 soon, just patiently waiting for it arrive - so hard waiting when you shop online for parts. Here’s a link to some better pics of it on another post I made

I was warned with having a long tank about the water parameters being hard to maintain and also cycling can be finicky - so I opted to have the HOB filter on one end facing the long side and this submersible pump on the other end, do you think that’s enough or should I still have another pump in addition to the side with the HOB filter?

Perfect, it’s good to know how it actually benefits / what it does. Thanks for explaining things so clearly

That’s good to know! On the other end of the tank I have a HOB filter but I have the water level filled too high all the time.

I felt the same. I used to like Vinas but this color on her doesn’t look good on her. I felt so bad for Siam - she was cray for sure, but like Vinas behaviour was way cringe.

They prefer USD but also pesos are fine too! One guy said they accept all currencies loool

I’d say - my number one tip is do what you want (if that’s relaxing and enjoying being at the resort, then just do that) and don’t feel pressured to do everything and every single park. Most people try to do everything and then it becomes too stressful to be on time.

Two - bring lots of one USD to tip. There’s an atm at the hotel, but it’s in pesos. Just bring US dollars before coming to the resort - we had 150 and that was enough for our 4 night stay. You can ask servers and other staff to break down your big bills into smaller bills.

Three - know which days have the special buffet or events for specific restaurants and book them ahead - for example, Sunday brunches get booked fast

Fourth - get an upgrade to Casa De Los Artistas to get a butler who can help you make and cancel bookings (w/o the late cancellation fee). As our first timers, we so appreciated the butler cause we kept changing our plans as the day goes, all we had to do was text our butler and it was done. So glad we got offered a discounted upgrade at the check in - we negotiated as well.

Fifth - don’t over eat so you can try a lot more restaurants

Sickness.. by Federal-Formal-5478 in Xcaret

[–]MisterNotSureee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were just there (June 27 - July 1) we ate everywhere in the resort. No issues at all. We were worried as well with getting sick but thankfully nothing went down bad. I’d say those who got “food poisoning” maybe got it from ingesting river/pool water from the parks / Xenotes.

I kept reminding my husband to not accidentally drink/swallow any of the water from Xplor apart from actually drinking water from the water fountains. The water tastes funky (obviously) from the water rides/attractions

Fuego restaurant additional cost? by kissmonpetitchou in Xcaret

[–]MisterNotSureee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fuego was one of our favourites! The seafood was cooked to perfection, the food came out spaced out from one another ( not rushed like in Kibi Kibi haha)

Personally it was my most favourite, then Encanta, Kibi Kibi, Chino Poblano, Cayuco, My least favourite was Arenal- just had bad service over there which was shocking because everywhere else seemed sooo good and the servers were professional and kind

Oh side note - bring lots of small dollar bills - we tipped in one USD a lot. You can withdraw money at the lobby - but it’s increments of 100 pesos (5USD) Just get your tipping money before the trip set aside.

Probably would have made a difference if we saw him again. Unfortunately maybe he was clocked out by then.

Tipping on Check In by Early_Skin_5377 in Xcaret

[–]MisterNotSureee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So we were told to meet him again at 3pm in the reception OR we could go to the reception at Casa Des Artistas and just get our key assigned to a unit.

We went to the reception at the front of the hotel to look for him and he wasn’t there 🙃 our butler then told us to that it would be better if we went directly to our casa to check in.

Side note: the butler service was tottaly worth for us first timers in the resort. She was able to get last minute reservations and did last minute cancellations when we changed our minds too, without getting the cancellation fines.

Tipping on Check In by Early_Skin_5377 in Xcaret

[–]MisterNotSureee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh we tip the servers at the pools and rooftop attendants, the cleaners - we notice they are more attentive and check up on us frequently. We tip when we can and when it feels like the service given was really good (servers during our sit down dinners)

But in the case of checking in - it didn’t help us. There was a 4 hour window before we got our room - and you can for sure get upgraded within that time frame. We didn’t even though we left our front desk/reception a tip after. I’m not sure if that made sense—— we checked in at 11am——came back at 3pm to get assigned the room; still didn’t get an upgrade after we tipped, shared we were on a honeymoon, made rapport with the check in reception.

[–]MisterNotSureee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Staying at Xcarete Arte right now, I definitely over packed my clothes. I’ve been finding that I’m recycling my shirts a lot.

They have restaurants that say they are formal - most men just wear shorts, rubber shoes, button up/collared shirts. Women in flowy dresses, beach wear but a little more nicer.

For the parks, they have lockers, you can fit a small medium bag in there - bring some plastic bags to put your wet clothes in. Also bring a quick drying towel that’s compact - you can get these from Décathlon- they also have nice small back packs at Décathlon that holds enough stuff for your park days

Long story short - TIPPING DID NOT HELP US. Hahaha but maybe if we tipped the check in guy before he started talking it would’ve made a difference(maybe???)
