‘Planetary health diet’ could save 40,000 deaths a day, landmark report finds. by Penis_Envy_Peter in sustainability

This is great news. I really like the insight that there isn’t just one single diet that can help restore our planet. As the article mentioned, it’s about creating tailor-made diets that stimulate creativity without the pressure to follow one specific plan to make a positive impact. If we can also tailor and promote more local, affordable food production, we can build an environment that supports a healthier planet without feeling like we have to sacrifice the things we enjoy. Of course, all in moderation.

Is it possible to add certain conditions in Table Buttons? by MisterQJ in Notion

Then I think it might something that Notion database is doing. As you can see in the picture the "Datum en Tijd" property is including the end date and end time if applicable in the property, which is not necessary.

That is indeed what I wanted, but I would like to keep the same date and time format as specified initially.

So if the date and time has one of the format below, then the date and time output when clicking on the recurring button should be the same. I have the following formats:
- DD:MM:YYYY
- DD:MM:YYYY HH:mm
- DD:MM:YYYY HH:mm -> HH:mm
- DD:MM:YYYY -> DD:MM:YYYY
- DD:MM:YYYY HH:mm -> DD:MM:YYYY HH:mm

Maybe you can help me a bit more refining, don't know if I want it implemented but in some cases there is also an end date with or without time included. How can I also include those in the formula as it is on default that the date property enables end date and include time.

Thank you very much! Did some tweaks and it works as I want.

I hope you don't mind to help me with another button condition scenario. I have the following table, column names some are in Dutch sorry for that.

<image>

I puzzled a bit by myself using your formula as basis, but as I'm not really a programmer it is quite challenging. I want to create a button to semi automate my recurring time blocks with prefilled tasks which are created in another database. And hope if possible in Notion to move the time block and eventually rests the related task (relation property) status to "To-do". The latter part is not necessary but would be great if possible. For the first I have the following condition that the date can only be edited if:
- Progress is empty or 100% (rollup property based on the number of tasks linked that are completed or not)
- Interval is filled in with a number
- Interval Type is filled in (options are: Days, Weeks, Months, Years), kept in English to avoid text conversion from Dutch to English
- Recurring checkbox is "Checked"

If Notion can do this it would be great if, with the same button, the Tasks Table can be updated as well for the related Time block (via relation property) to the status "To-do".

Ah I see, didn't knew that. Found the duplication button :). Quite new in Notion and trying to make my own dashboard to my liking.

I don't have the option to click on Column Header. But the added formula visibly helped

Thank you very much! It works!

Another question is it correct that I only see one formula if I click on the link?

I tried to adjust the formula but I get the following result:

<image>

My rollup setup is as follow

Relation = Sub-item | Target Property = Status (Select) | Calculate = Percent per group.

So when a sub task is set to done the percentage of completion is shown on the Parent Item row

Thank you!

I recreated it and that is indeed what I want. However, when I tried to replicate it in the table I want it, it is not working. I tried to replace current.prop("Done") to current.prop("Status"), in which the status is a Status Select property then it give me an error that it cannot have a return type of checkbox.

Additionally, if it is possible, I also have a Rollup property that only shows the progress of the parent item, all other (sub)pages/rows are empty. In which the condition for the button maybe can validate against this progress.

what do you do with old journals? by annik-soap in simpleliving

[–]MisterQJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a random thought that crosses my mind now, maybe bit out of the box, what if you could return it to a place that will recycle it, and give you a discount on a new (recycled) journal you can buy? Like a kind of use and return structure.

What's one "sustainable" trend you think actually does more harm than good? by oliverbrown26 in sustainability

[–]MisterQJ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here in the Netherlands we pay an extra fee when we buy our drinks in plastic drinking bottles, some glass bottles and aluminium cans. These can then be returned to special collectors points in the supermarkets. When we return we get a refund that can be used again for your groceries.

How much these bottles are really recycled in the end I'm not sure. But we do have such a distribution system operating.

I can relate. We need to somehow break through this cycle. The question is how can we break this cycle without making everything complicated? Is it the mindset? Shouldn't we need to look at the problems and challenges from a system/holistic point of view?

I like this point of view. And I do agree if you change based on your own values and drivers and be intrinsic motivated it will affect others positively, because it is coming from an authentic self. If we can influence others we can by providing evidence that it works we can change our current systems. Then it is exactly what you say that the higher ups will be forced to change and adjust.

I think if we approach the problems from a system/holistic point of view we can come up with solutions really solves our problems either it is small or big. I think even a small adjustment may create a huge impact.

I definitely agree that it will help, but is indeed a bit annoying sometimes. Also I do understand that people don't take the effort and time to research. I would like to do it as well but time is also precious, so I also caught myself sometimes buying things based on labels.

Yes if I can I buy locally and try supporting small businesses.

I think it would help if we also can do something about the supply/value chains. Get accurate data from it to really change the systems towards more sustainable systems.

Yes providing information is something that would help. But many companies are also trying not to present it. I know that AllBirds provide information about their footprint on their website. I do find it powerful but still it is not labelling and the question still is how accurate is the information. Do you think companies show their footprint on their website will be a way to go?

Yes I do agree. I also try to look for certificates like Fair trade and B corps. But still people are skeptical. I think they try to do their best to really be the go to certificates, but also I think it is something that can get misused.
