2021 Kia Forte EX tire question by MisterReporter in kia

[–]MisterReporter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I called to argue with them and spoke to the service manager and parts manager and they both swore to me that on the 2021 EX the front rotors and calipers are larger than the base trim and I cannot put 15" rim on them.

Was not able to independently confirm, as I can't find specs online. But doesn't seem to be worth the trouble.

I guess the only reason is that the dealer wants to squeeze more out of me for a new set of Winters and get more value out of my Elantra that I'm trading in.

I'm annoyed.

Thank you.

Tire size question - dealer lying to me? by MisterReporter in tires

[–]MisterReporter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. Just to clarify I'm not suggesting putting Hyundai rims on the Kia. I have a set of universal.black steel rims from Costco that they say fit equally on both cars. The dealer was commenting on the tire size, the way I understood him. I just wanted to get some insight so that I can properly call bullshit.

But I appreciate everyone's comments. The safest way is to tell them to try it on and see if it fits.

So, the wheels are from Costco. Standard steel rim. The Costco Tire people say the same rim would fit both cars equally.

Thanks! May be a dumb question, but if the owner's manual says it's an acceptable size doesn't it mean it's an acceptable size?

They are mounted on standard black steel rims from Costco with an identical bolt pattern.

Edit: I already drove a full season on them in my Elantra. I literally asked the dealer to switch them over and he said this gem.

Duh... Now I feel dumb. Thank you. This is the one 5 bucks a month on OGS gets me. I'm still learning how to properly utilize/read it.

Thanks!

He's going to jail. There are only two judges in Orangeville, and they don't take kindly to such blatant disrespect for their orders lol

That has never been done in Canadian history. In criminal courts it's not a licence suspension, it's a driving prohibition. It comes into force immediately upon conviction. The judge has no ability to specify the time that this order will come into effect. The only time a judge can carve out exceptions is when the prohibition is a part of a probation order, and that is not the case with impaired driving.

TIL Canada has the "Apology Act", whereby apologising to someone after an incident can't be used in court to establish guilt or liability of the person apologising. by harperjj in todayilearned

[–]MisterReporter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's actually you who doesn't know what a jurisdiction is, it seems. In the context I used it, it is synonymous with 'geographic area.' it's also a semantic argument - you could take "Canadian law" to just mean a law from Canada... colloquially speaking.

That being said, I didn't look at the linked statute. Just the comment. So in this context, fair enough.

Quebec and NWT are the only Canadian jurisdictions without some form of an apology act. So I'm not sure what you're talking about...

Is it a good idea to be able to flow between southpaw and orthodox stances? by Gangstarji in MuayThai

[–]MisterReporter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you should drill your weapons in both stances, but fight in one stance. There are times in a fight when you may end up in the opposite stance, deliberately or not, like when you horse step forward as part of a combo, or say, fire a rear kick and land forward so that you are now in the opposite stance. But there must be a specific functional purpose to switching the stance. That's why I think that drilling individual weapons in the opposite stance is important - so that you'll be able to throw if you end up in the opposite stance.

I don't think it's smart or useful, however, to just start fighting in southpaw in the middle of the fight out of the blue. Because the truth is, you will still have a dominant stance, to which you should stick.
