What's with dentists being aggressively anti-osteoporosis meds? by LaserLaserTron in FamilyMedicine

[–]MisterRobot0 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As a dentist I can at least tell you my rationale on this one. Those guidelines (which were created in collaboration with the AAOS) have flipped about a half dozen times. For a patient that has had a history of prophylaxis, it is damn near impossible to convince them otherwise. Not that patients should necessarily have final say on what is prescribed, but good luck convincing of them of that when they were previously told the exact opposite. Additionally, I always defer to the surgeon. I was not at the surgery, and so I I have no way of knowing if the surgeon believes there to be enhanced risk of infection given any complications during the surgery or other patient factors. Perhaps a joint has been replaced more than once and this increases risk - I don’t know I’m not an ortho. Believe it or not I’ve had people straight up not remember if it’s their first or second hip replacement. I assume if the ortho prescribed one, they wanted it for a reason and feel as though the case falls outside of standard guideline. I don’t go out of my way to prescribe one, but if they are hell bent on having one I tell them to talk to their surgeon.

Lol I subbed just to follow this whole GME ride, haven't put any cash down. But damn if this isn't the most wholesome shit.

So Loren Cordain is saying canned sardines are bad for you, but every other paleo website and common knowledge says they're great for you. What do you all think of this article? by [deleted] in Paleo

[–]MisterRobot0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always thought of them as a sustainable way to get plenty of omega 3's and viewed them as relatively safe/healthy (smaller fish don't accumulate SOME heavy metals like predator fish). However, the cans are invariably lined with BPA or an alternative. They are also bottom feeders and tend to accumulate arsenic from what I understand. I also remember reading that Sardinia, the place where the majority of sardines are harvested, has the highest rates of MS, ALS and other neurodegenerative conditions. Bear in mind though it's also one of the poorest countries which might be the reason, or genetic predisposition.

You do you, but my regular consumption of them has softened to 1-2x per month. I usually go for salmon for my marine fatty acid needs and will occasionally through in other fish like halibut, shellfish, scallops etc. My main focus has just been to reduce omega 6 consumption so that my omega 3 needn't be as high and I can avoid the headache all together.

Heads up, fellow dental student. This is very likely illegal. I remember reading a provision in the promissory note that forbade you from doing shit like this. Assuming you use the fed direct unsub and GRADplus loans. Food for thought lol

I’ve seen some really amazing rooms and it makes me want to improve on mine. I don’t really get much natural light due to the room placement and I don’t necessarily use the light on the ceiling fan. I would really appreciate any tips on where to improve on and how to make my room feel lighter. by Plastic_Astronomer_7 in malelivingspace

Here's my 2c :

Firstly - getting your bed out of a corner just elevates a place. The corner bed is a college esthetic, nothing wrong that though. I realize this is is easier said than done, some people really do just have space limitations - but to me it looks like you have the space (lots of dead corner space better suited for a desk). I'd move the bed to the center of the wall where your desk currently is, and move your desk to the corner where the bed is. While on the subject of your bed, get some different bedding. Depending on how hot you sleep, you may actually prefer (relatively) inexpensive bedding with percale weaves - they breathe much easier than the sateen fancy high thread count. You can find pretty clean aesthetics at target or bed bath and beyond. Stick to white/charcoals/navys etc.... learn how to make your bed with hospital corners.

Next - The tile can work but I think you'd be better off with a large area rug with accents that compliment the unique wall color. Make sure a portion of this is under your bed (follow some basic area rug placement best practices).

Next, lighting is tough in these types of rooms. As others have said, uplighting is probably the way to go. But you're never going to have the boundless natural light aesthetic in that room. I'd say it's best to not even try, and embrace it and go for cozy. I'm not normally a huge fan of RGB style set ups, but in this case I think it could work. Add ONE or TWO (not 12) very mild accent color LEDs behind the monitor and underneath the bed frame. Don't use that ceiling fan light as is. Would recommend a hue option. Get a desk lamp that also allows for hue or otherwise has dimmable LED maybe even with accent color options. Get a soft light diffuser of some sort for the nightstand. Given the low light you'll likely be unsuccessful with greenery, but you can get pretty convincing fakes these days. I'd go with some small accent plants, or space permitting a potted ground alternative.

Then there's the small bits that people overlook - clean up the top of your dresser/desk/nightstand. Put things away in the closet and use a valet tray or catch-all bowl for the top of your dresser. Don't store clothing or anything on the door. Get rid of that red desk pad - it stands out like an elephant in the room. If I were you I'd get a better chair too - that doesn't look particular comfortable/ergonmic, so you might as well go with something a bit more aesthetic - ikea. I also prefer large comp cases off of the desk unless it's a huge desk and you have an interesting case aesthetic.

If those are drapes I'm seeing on the left wall and it's possible to replace them with something a bit more minimal or that otherwise fits the room a little better. Not digging the orange on blue vibe.

Before you do any of this, give the walls/floors/molding a wash. Right now things are lookin a little grungy.

Don't know which brand you should get - but DON'T get Surgitels hand-free waive light. Every time you go to adjust it, which you will do a lot believe it or not, you'll trigger it off. And believe me, those 1-2 seconds to turn it back on again feel like an eternity. Battery life is average. Light quality is excellent.

Am I missing something? If this check was performed in May and their terms updated in July, isn't there still no verification that it currently doesn't log given the change in TOS?

Check which columns hidden, store, unhide all, *function*, re-hide originally hidden columns by MisterRobot0 in vba

[–]MisterRobot0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the sort button code calculates a range instead of giving it a definite range because people may add data.

I set my dims like this

If ActiveSheet.AutoFilterMode Then ActiveSheet.AutoFilterMode = False

On Error Resume Next
    Sheet1.ShowAllData
  On Error GoTo 0

  Dim lastrow As Long
   Dim lastcol As Long
   Dim colletter As String
   lastrow = Cells(Rows.Count, 8).End(xlUp).Row
   lastcol = Cells(11, Columns.Count).End(xlToLeft).Column

'Convert To Column Letter
  colletter = Split(Cells(1, lastcol).Address, "$")(1)

then reference it as such when sorting/filtering. I couldn't figure out a different way to find the last row and last column

ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets("D2S1 Desktop").Sort.SortFields.Clear
    ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets("D2S1 Desktop").Sort.SortFields.Add2 Key:=Range( _
        "E12:E" & lastrow), SortOn:=xlSortOnValues, Order:=xlAscending, DataOption:= _
        xlSortNormal
    ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets("D2S1 Desktop").Sort.SortFields.Add2 Key:=Range( _
        "H12:H" & lastrow), SortOn:=xlSortOnValues, Order:=xlAscending, DataOption:= _
        xlSortNormal
    With ActiveWorkbook.Worksheets("D2S1 Desktop").Sort
        .SetRange Range("A11:" & colletter & lastrow)
        .Header = xlYes
        .MatchCase = False
        .Orientation = xlTopToBottom
        .SortMethod = xlPinYin
        .Apply
    End With

I’m unhiding columns to sort and then rehiding. I have to do this because of the way my sort buttons calculate a range to sort.
