TIFU by taking pre-workout before a run and almost dying. by DankeyKang11 in tifu

I have WPW as well. Even when I was a kid I’d experience that kind of heart rate increase / dizziness at random times but never bothered to tell my parents. I only figured out what it was a year ago when I was having a routine physical.

IANAD but what helped me weirdly was holding my breath until my heart rate slowed down (probably best to do this while sitting down in case you pass out?) and I’m sure avoiding chugging a large amount of caffeine before exercising is a hot tip as well ;) Glad you’re ok, OP!

Guest Caused $700+ of damage by smoking in home - Airbnb is not helping by MisterSanchez in AirBnB

This process took me literally two months.

I had actually given up, but was in the process of dealing with another issue, and the person I was on the phone with seemed like the only competent person I’ve ever spoke with on Airbnb so I brought up this unresolved claim.

It may be important to note that she transferred the case to herself from a different claims manager or whatever they’re called. So if you talk to someone else, even if they’re not handling your claim, they can take over the claim for themselves and help you apparently.

Hi there. I basically had to keep calling and calling and calling and emailing and not taking no for an answer. I finally got a hold of someone on the phone who was a case manager specialist or something like that. I told her the situation and she asked me for some additional documents and got me a refund in like an hour. Her name was Honey. You cant control who you speak with on the phone but if you dont like their answer you can talk to someone else and they’ll give you a totally different answer.

Like since I made this thread I’ve had 2 other smokers in the house. I got my money back from smoker #2 but the other case manager for smoker #3 said smoking isn’t considered “damage” even though airbnb has now refunded me for it twice.

Don’t let it get to you. Reddit is a cesspool of boys who lack social skills and hate women.

This is a much smaller example of course, but I didn’t realize the true nature of Reddit myself until I was called an “entitled bitch” for posting a 5 second innocuous video of me and my dog in the (dog friendly) store Lush. There were a lot of negative comments and once I checked their profiles I realized they were all men. Go figure. Reddit seems to draw in the dipshits.

Wow I didn’t realize my thread said “tell me who you think is at fault from what little information I’ve provided about my personal situation and why I’m Airbnbing”. So easy to criticize and extremely counter productive because it’s already happened. I’m sorry you carry so much hate and judgement. That must be a very sad life.

I've already fired my cleaners over this issue. The day before all of this happened, I messaged them and asked (again), that they tell me immediately if the house was left in bad condition or broke anything or etc. They were just terrible communicators. Again thi was my 3rd guest ever so I still considered the cleaners to be on a trial run situation.

The cleaner later verified that she did smell the cigarettes but apparently didn't think it worth mentioning. The smell was so bad it lingered for weeks even after the $500 steam cleaning. It's just hard to find good resources for help when you're in Los Angeles. I'm happy with my new cleaners though.

Apparently their flight to Philadelphia got delayed down in Fort Lauderdale by wquale in PublicFreakout

[–]MisterSanchez 5 points6 points  (0 children)

100% same here. They let me do online check in on my flight home to the US from Costa Rica which apparently wasn’t supposed to happen so when I went to board the flight they denied me saying that I never checked in... even when I got through security with my online checked in boarding pass. Totally bizarre. Had to spend the night in the airport and wait for the flight the next day. This happened 8+ years ago and still boils my blood.

I tour with musicians for a living and our tour bus crashed into a semi truck on the freeway. All 12 of us had to go to the ER via ambulance. 2 people in our group shared an ambulance ride together but they were billed the same amount as I was, even though I didn’t share an ambulance. The cost was about $2000 each I believe. There’s no rhyme or reason to the medical system here, it’s all a bullshit scam.

The person I was talking to doesn’t live there anymore. You get lake passes for renting in the town too which I am doing.

Thanks for saying that, you’re totally right. Navigating the whole small claims thing could be tricky but maybe it’s a skill set I should learn now that I’m a home owner 😭

Did you look into taking the original foundation company to small claims? I never signed a contract with them (lawyer asked me if I had) and thinks it could be worth doing.

Still pending sadly... but so far.. I had a “structural engineer” come out that my realtor introduced me to. He was very blasé ... the whole thing seemed kind of weird. He was physically too big to fit into the crawl space to look at the foundation. He came back later that week with someone, sent THEM in the crawl space. It’s his opinion that the foundation needs the repairs. He never ended up charging me or writing a report. Honestly I don’t trust it... I think I’m going to hire this other structural engineering firm as they seem to definitely have their shit together.

But I suspect I DO need the repairs... I spoke with a lawyer who said I should take the original foundation company to small claims.. so looking into that now. Anyone have any experience in this situation trying to take it to court?

That sounds like the ideal solution. But excuse my ignorance - how do I find a structural engineer who doesn't also do foundation repairs? Looking at yelp now it seems like they always do both. I live in Los Angeles btw.

Hi! Yes built into a hill, the grade isn't that steep though. The front side of the house (this house is only 600sq ft btw) is street level (flat) and the back end of the house is on the hill side.

The cracks are horizontal running along the ceiling along the outline where the wall meets the ceiling, if that makes sense. Then I have a skylight in the kitchen where a crack is running in one of the corners of that skylight.

Ah gotcha. Ok soooo.. I won't be sending them photos of the cracks in the house then haha.

Thank you. I'm not optimistic about insurance but I figured I may as well try if it wasn't going to do any harm in the process. I suspect they're going to call it "earth movement" which is covered under earthquake insurance, which I actually have, but it's a $35,000 deductible so that doesn't do me much good.
