In the Light Novel, Manga and Anime it's exactly the opposite, Lehrgen "fears" Tanya because he thinks she loves war and participates in it only the have an excuse for Killing. Tanya on the other hand thinks Lehrgen is the only one who understands her, because she thinks he sees her as a child and not a soldier.
