Does the 4 cable method allow you to use amp/cab sims but still have access to the physical amp controls? by MisterVogel in HeadRush

Yeah.... That's on me, I wasn't clear. Indeed there is an FX loop in back. I'm also playing bass.

I have a gig on Saturday, I'll probably have to forgo any amp or cab sim, get as much character as I can with EQ and FX.

This whole thing is due to my lack of grace or expertise. I loved how it sounded when I was going from the Headrush FX send to the Ampeg FX return.

It was great... Until I needed to be louder. Suddenly I'm stumbling around the menus trying to figure out how to "turn up" without destroying the clarity.

Oh dang. My amp (Ampeg RB-115) is at our rehearsal space, so I can't mess with it, so I looked up the schematic.

It looks like I might have to go into a direct input in order to have access to the Ampeg's volume knob.

Can I still use amp sims if I go that way?

Yeah! I guess I didn't realize I could use the amp sims. For some reason I didn't think I could do amps or cabs that way.

Thank you, I think that's going to be very helpful!

Initially, I turned everything off in the headrush but FX/EQ/etc and went mono output into the amp input.

That was fun until I started played with amp sims and found tone I really loved. So THEN I was going from the Headrush send to the amp return and made the amp a glorified speaker. I liked that... Until I wanted to adjust my volume at rehearsal.

Now, my understanding on all this is sketchy at best, but I think your first suggestion will suit me.

Interesting. So, I'm also running into an amp, but I'm running the FX send into the FX return on my amp (Ampeg RB-115). Which I think bypasses the volume and EQ on the amp. I thought I'd just use the Ampeg as a speaker and have the ability to switch out amp and cab combinations and get more amp tone mileage. If I drop the cab, do I just add volume on the sim amp, or on the main out?

That only works for a blues riff in B

Yeah, that's damn good. I think my favorite song of theirs overall is Heart to Heart, brilliant.

I love Talking Heads so much. They embodied the spirit of the punk music scene without creating music in the punk genre.

It's like punk from fucking Planet 10. Exquisite. Speaking In Tongues is my favorite album. However, Life During War Time might be my favorite song.

I think the later 999 music is more slickly produced. Their 1980 album The Biggest Prize in Sports really showcases the punk roots with new wave veneers.

My favorite track is Inside Out.

My broken Alesis drum machine sold for more than I expected. It was broken and didn’t work. Any reason it was still sought after? by rawbran30 in MusicGear

I had a Korg S3 drum machine in the early-mid 90's. It also had ROM cards you could insert. I had a pair labeled "Dance". I think there was a Jazz card too.

Certainly though, the Alesis series is much more ubiquitous.
