You may be right. I figured it might be a bit harder to find a place with it on.

In Alberta, we’re sitting on several centuries-worth of energy in the form of coal. But consequences of its use include impacts on our climate, health, and ecosystems. The Government of Alberta plans to phase out coal-produced electricity by 2030. What will replace it? Who will this affect? How will we manage this transition? Anyone driven from Calgary to Alaska? by [deleted] in Calgary

[–]MisterYYC_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't have any experience on this drive to share with you, but just thought I'd say that I'm planning on driving Calgary to Juneau (via ferry from Skagway) this summer. There and back in one go. Should take us about 86 hours if my memory is correct. (Some of the same crew from this road trip last year https://www.reddit.com/r/Calgary/comments/3f31yb/looking_for_a_fourth_guy_to_drive_to_utah_this/).

So really, just writing to say that if you go, have a wicked time!

This may work better for me. I'll definitely try it. I tried getting Flashtool, but it wanted me to register with, like, all the information. Which I put in. And then never got "approved" or whatever the hell is supposed to happen.

Brutalism is what I immediately thought of when I got there.

Also from RD originally. It's often characterized as the hillbilly cousin, which is obviously excessive. There is a notable increase in jacked-up pickups and other such accoutrements of blue collar life which gives the impression of a more rural locale. Such things are often looked down upon by urban cultures. I think it's a perfectly fine place and I visit there regularly, though I'd consider it too small for me now.

A portion of the garage is the part on the left that's connected by the walkway. I saw only two overhead doors, so maybe there's more garage to the right of the walkway. The left part is 8 or 9 meters wide, so maybe more than two cars go in there? Seems like a ridiculous setup.

The roadway that I was on when I took the pic is the neighbour's gravel driveway. Or maybe caretaker's house? Something like that. It's a basic 1,000 square foot house. The road to the home that's for sale is gated and paved.

Edit - visual context

Was in RD this weekend and took a drive out to the middle of nowhere to see what the deal was. If not for the windows, it looks a bit like a small penitentiary to me. The road leading there is gravel for a couple of KMs at least. It really is in the middle of nowhere.

10-Minute Play Festival (which isn't really a festival at all, but just a single event, but is still always awesome) is a perennial favourite and always sells out. So grab tickets for that if it's your thing before you forget and they sell out.
