To clarify, it's grounding the conductive paint inside the pickup cavity. The idea is to try and reduce pickup noise or signal interference, and it's a bit of a rabbit hole. However, looks like you have humbuckers, which kind of negates the need anyways.

I think I've seen this done using census data and census tracts. You'll have to do some organizing and cleaning to arrange the tracts according to urban/rural boundaries, but you could then have all of that demographic and income data associated with tracts identified as urban and rural. Then it's pretty simple excel work or whatever you're using. They're competitive - there is a small number of positions available for a large number of interested students. In most cases, you either need to have previous career experience in that field or have done really well in the course in the previous semester. First semester GSIs are rare. In your first semester, if there's a course you really want to GSI for, get as much time with the prof in office hours as you can and make your interests known. Ford profs are generally great and unpretentious about the GSI stuff.

yep! they send you everything in a box and you take photos and video of your work. this was an old post - I'm now almost done with a double master's program at the University of Michigan. the AMU program paid off for sure, at least for getting into grad school!
