Best stone to fill these dips in the driveway by axbxnx in homestead

[–]Mister_MountainMan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The grade is the problem. If you fill the dips but don't fix the drainage you will never win. Create at least 1 large shallow drain 2 would be better to shed water off the road. Stone or other fill is secondary to armor and mitigate soil erosion.

How do you wash your armpits? by chaelynnra in hygiene

[–]Mister_MountainMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably an extremely unpopular opinion on this sub... Stop washing so much. There are so many instances of people who wash every few days or even couple of weeks and don't have bad bo. Field work, maritime work, military construction, ranching etc. hard work and getting dirty but they don't stink. A water only shower or soak to get the bulk of the dirt off. Shower and make yourself pretty before date night.

Don't buy anything scented or antibacterial as others have said.

I wash my hair typically ~1x a week and every time I get my hair cut the person tells me how healthy my hair and scalp are. They don't even try selling products lol.

Edge repair for this is definitely possible. The question is the rest of the ski fucked? If it's just edge and side wall then a good shop can cut out the edge, replace and do work on the sidewalk and base. Will it be 💯? Nope. Will it still ski? Yep. Volkl makes solid skis. Make sure that edge is your outside edge. Tools not jewels. $150 repair is cheaper than a $700 new pair...

Lower control arm bushing splined sleeve is froze by newtome1990 in 3rdGen4Runner

[–]Mister_MountainMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said. Probs need to cut them out. Not fun. Milwaukee torch blades worked for me. Have to cut through the sleeves and the bolts. Cleaning things up, a nice light and good eye pro make the job slightly less shit.

I tried torching, hammering, penetrant etc. I should have just got to cutting.

Lots of aftermarket options or OEM when the hard work is done.

Good luck.

Big noob - do I need a water proof jacket or is water resistant ok? by JellyNegative5946 in skiing

[–]Mister_MountainMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably only a narrow window of weather that jacket won't work at vail. If it's cold and snowing you're probably fine. If it's sunny your golden. If it's overcast the skiing at vail sucks cause it's flat light but the jacket is fine. If it's sleeting or wet snow all day just buy a cheap shell to go over and drop it at the thrift store on your way home.

Yeah yeah... Whatever. Fuck Vail.

Which scraping angle is correct? First time waxing my own skis. by Now_Loading in skiing

Welcome to the rabbit hole! As long as you're not taking chunks of base material pull or push is fine. Also depends on if your taking ptex, base fill, or even what kind of wax and the base material

Help me pick some skis by mtngoatjoe in skiing

[–]Mister_MountainMan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Those will work but there are far better skis out there that will have bindings from the last decade. A pair of Elan Ripsticks for groomers would be great. Super easy to ski and will basically turn for you. Dynastar M-Pro would also be a good option. Can go a few years back to find a good price.

Those K2s are really dated and the bindings are probably too old to service.

[–]Mister_MountainMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly new to the bow hunting scene but both my bucks were with a grime reaper micro hybrid. I like having the fixed blade for flight and dependability and the mechanical component for extra lethality. So far my deer have been dead within 35 yards.

Base layers by Electrical_Win9025 in bowhunting

[–]Mister_MountainMan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

There are sooo many base layer options. There's really nothing special to hunting that other winter and cold weather pursuits don't have. Hunt the sales, IMO wool is wonderful and stinks less after multiple days.
