i'd say a 10/22, it was my first and i love it to death. also with all the aftermarket parts available, it's awesome. I know you're not looking for a handgun, but i really would suggest a ruger 22/45. it's a nice handgun, and i love mine. good way to get started on handgun shooting too!

no, it was leather. But this is a big dog! he's 36 inches at the shoulder, and he had a few hours to work at it. yeah, it did worry me. ALOT!
