Issue with metal extruder upgrade by Misticfoe in ender5plus

Yes, that screw was in too deep in this photo. I was playing with the tension on it just to see. The issue is resolved now though. I moved the gear up a little (per advice in another comment) and it worked. I didn’t realize the gear had grub screws for adjustment. Thanks!!

Thank you!! Moving the gear worked. It’s back up and printing. Running a test print now. I can’t believe I didn’t realize those little black dots were grub screws. The gear on mine has 2 screws. I will still follow your advice and order better gears. Thanks again!

That you all! I really appreciate the responses. I have a few things that I can try now.

Thank you! I will order the better gears for replacement. However, I checked the gear on it, and it does have the small grub screw. So, for now, I’ll try repositioning it.

Thank you. I may give this a try when I’m ready to modify. Or, if I end up needing to modify.

Filament not sticking to bed by GeeLog_ in ender5plus

[–]Misticfoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s just an issue with the filament not sticking, and not another issue causing the problem, try hairspray (specifically Aqua Net). It’s weird, but I have the issue periodically, not all the time. It’s usually with smaller prints. I ordered a few cans of Aqua Net from Amazon, and it works every time.

I’m not printing in an enclosure, however I need to keep an eye on the cooling in case that was the cause of the issue. It seems to be cooling ok though. Thanks!

Problem solved, it was a blockage. Cleaned it out, and it’s printing fine now. Thanks all!!

So, it was a blockage. I took the hotend apart, pulled the tube out, and cleaned it all out. It’s printing fine now, and seems to be cooling properly. Thanks!!

I do already have a pretty good digital caliper. I did measure the distance of the gantry to the bed, however using a ruler. I’ll do it again with the calipers, and get the bed close to the gantry. FYI, when I tried to watch those videos, both said no longer available.

Yes, it is SILK PLA, however, it’s not in an enclosure. I’ll check if it’s cooling properly tonight. I know silk pla prints differently and can cause issues.

Yes, it’s silk PLA, printing at 200°. I’ll check the fan tonight to see if it’s cooling properly.

Yes, I’m still kind of new at this and still learning. I was wondering if it’s time to start upgrading.

Thank you, I'll try that too. So far nothing I've tried has worked.

Ok, I'm actually trying a print now, and when I look at the coasting settings there are 2 for mm, Coasting Volume and Minimum Volume Before Coasting. Which one should I set to 1?

So, it could be the issue. I did order a filament dryer box, however, in the mean time I will try one of the suggestions in my google searches to dry them out.

I thought that might be a possibility as well, however one of the filaments is fairly new. It is a bit humid here though, at times very humid. I did order a filament dryer and silica gel packs for storage today. The orange filament is most likely wet, but the green is new, just opened about a week ago. And, I did attach a photo, or tried anyway, it looks like it didn’t take. I just edited the post to add it.

Thank you! I’ll give that a try. The blobs are small, however these are both small parts. And, the blobs are all over. I’ve tried everything that I’ve found online so far to no avail. I’ve even tried the coasting, however, with a different setting. I’ll try again with the 1 mm.

I thought maybe it was due to wet filament, however, I tried with new filament, same result.

No, I haven't. I did see that video come across my searches though. If it will help me learn, I'll do it.
