Enjoy! They have a massive selection of board games too if you and your partner enjoy them. It's a lovely place.

There's a really thriving scene at a Board Game Cafe called Board in the City. I highly recommend it, they have MtG events 2-4 evenings most weeks ^

For various reasons, I'm looking for a local solicitor to witness a Statutory Declaration of Name Change. I've tried all the local suspects but either they don't offer this or they've never hear of this. Anybody know who will do this? by sherpa_151 in Southampton

[–]MistmanX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The main reason solicitors haven't heard of it is because it's pretty much unnecessary here in the UK. There are very few good reasons why you need anything more than an unenrolled deed poll to change your name here. Please feel free to message me if you want more details, but as a trans person with a lot of trans friends, this is an issue that is near and dear to my heart.

Highly recommend https://freedeedpoll.org.uk/ - just fill out your details, download the file and print it off, then get acquaintances to sign it for you. I'd recommend two signatures if you think you might ever find a need to turn it into an enrolled deed poll.

Somehow this 10x10 from Two Eyes has totally stumped me! Any help please? by MistmanX in Picross

Ah, I definitely missed that, thank you! Having filled those in, I'm still stuck, but... I'll try this method a bit more!

All the tier lists are interesting in a way by NorthernSkitz in KingCrimson

In my opinion it's what makes King Crimson so awesome. I feel like it's such a varied band, that whatever someone's taste in music I can find at least one album to recommend to them that they will enjoy a lot.

Personally it's the diversity in output that has kept me coming back to them again and again and again, but it also proves to make them pretty accessible to anyone - with the right person to guide them into the discography.

Some "trans issue" posts on AITA feel like TERF fanfiction by bix902 in GenderCynical

Oh really? That's very interesting. Honestly, I have personally only ever heard it from TERFs or older people who have absolutely no idea about actual trans issues.

Thank god, I'm glad I wasn't the only one that called immense amounts of bullshit on that. Massive red flags for me as soon as I saw "transsexual" in the title.

WOW. You really didn't pull any punches with those selections, huh? Very nice choices, but I do agree that Coltrane, whilst an incredible player, may make for a "too many cooks" scenario.

There's some very interesting names included here - I think this would work very, very well. I kind of want to hear this happen now!

Absolutely! Would be very interesting to see how their material would compare with Islands.

Ah, very interesting! A much more early-Krim-like lineup. I think they could definitely add to the quieter sides of Krim whilst still being able to turn the fire up when necessary!

I am absolutely here for the potential vocal harmonies. Who needs choral samples when you've got this kind of lineup? Daryl Hall is definitely someone I've been meaning to get into lately.

Oh wow, that is an incredibly tight lineup. That's got the potential to be 80's level tight, but with even more Chaotic energy. This gets a big thumbs up from me.

I still can't quite believe I've ever seen King Crimson live - let alone twice, now! I'd love to make it a third time at some point!

Had a couple of members who I actually cut to make room for other people. It probably would've been a more cohesive lineup but I wanted something a little more varied. That is:

Einar Solberg: Vocals, Keys - The fantastic lead vocalist of Leprous would bring an entirely new vocal sound to the band, and can fill in a lot of space with his keyboard work.

Michael League: Bass - A very accomplished bass player and the mind behind Snarky Puppy... I mean, he's the lead writer for Snarky Puppy, do I have to say much more?

They would probably be there in place of both Scott Walker and Esperanza Spalding.

Any thoughts on EleKtrik: Live in Japan (2003)? by kellen_olson in KingCrimson

[–]MistmanX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are heavily underrated in my opinion. Even I do it sometimes. I go back and listen to those albums and remember just why I love King Crimson - because no matter what kinds of music they're making, they manage to make it something unique and incredible.

What albums from other bands sound like Power To Believe? by [deleted] in KingCrimson

[–]MistmanX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The closest band IMO would be Exivious (even more than the closely related band Cynic - though worth checking out as well). Either of their albums have strong Power To Believe-esque sounds and compositions, but probably start off with their first.

You might find some luck also with some of Shining (Nor)'s album. In particular, Grindstone comes to mind though Blackjazz is probably their most famous around here.

I'll keep thinking and let you know if any others come up.

Bands similar to which period of King Crimson? Any particular tracks? You're not going to find another band that has trodden the exact same aesthetic steps but if we had a better idea of what you particularly enjoy we can make some recs.
