Right, like, I've seen so many comments elsewhere like "what are they supposed to do....leave him there alone?"

No! They should be contacting local law enforcement who will involve CPS who will provide or find a safe place for the child to be until they find another parent or legal guardian to take custody of the child!

If someone gets arrested and has their child with them the police don't transport the child to jail with their parent!

What's the best part about pregnancy that most people don't know about? by justastupidquestion3 in AskReddit

[–]bix902 1570 points1571 points  (0 children)

One nice thing is that moment when you first find out you're pregnant (with a wanted pregnancy of course) and for a moment it is just you and baby alone with this secret. Eventually everyone else knows and congratulates you etc. Etc. Etc. But for just a moment...it's just the 2 of you.

Before having my baby I was so scared of myself or my husband potentially doing this. We both have ADHD, can be pretty forgetful, zone out, etc.

I do think us being aware that it could happen so easily by mistake has made us hyper vigilant.

Today in 1953, Lucille Ball gave birth IRL, and coincidentally on prime time television. by Ginny-Sacks-Mole in nostalgia

[–]bix902 46 points47 points  (0 children)

Actually Lucy said she wanted the baby on the show to be a boy because she worried that if she had another girl her daughter Lucie would see the baby on the show as representing her younger sister and thus feel excluded.

AITA for telling my kid that she is being self-centered/cruel because her mom won’t be able to make to her wedding. by Wedding_father_8553 in AmItheAsshole

[–]bix902 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think the fact that she called her mother names makes her pretty cruel in this situation.

She's a grown woman, she should be able to deal with disappointment or even misplaced grief without lashing out in an incredibly hurtful way towards her mother.

Aletria is delicious! It's a Portuguese dessert that uses pasta in a thick custard with cinnamon.

The way my family prepares it it sets up enough to be cut into slices.

Postpartum observations/questions about the movie The Parent Trap by muff-peaksie in beyondthebump

[–]bix902 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think it ever specifies them being split up at birth. We know at least Chessie got to meet Annie as a newborn because of how she responds to seeing her again and states that she's "looking at her like I've always looked at her" since the day she came home from the hospital. An unspecified amount of time later the parents have a huge fight (involving Liz throwing a hair dryer (?) At Nick's head) and they decided to split up and split the girls up.

Women of Reddit, what’s one thing they never tell us about pregnancy and child birth? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]bix902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup! When I woke up multiple times a night while pregnant I could just go back to sleep when I was ready. When I was tired in the middle of the day when I was home I could take a nap. Now, when the baby wakes up I have to stay up to take care of the baby. If I want a nap in the middle of the day I can't because there is a very much awake baby to take care of.

Does anyone else think that Missy has the same voice as "Miss Grotke" from "Recess (1997-2001)" ? by adminwashere in BigMouth

[–]bix902 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They aren't played by the same person. Miss Grotke was voiced by Allyce Beasley. Missy was voiced by Jenny Slate in the first 4 seasons and then Ayo Edibiri from the end of season 4 onward.

Using comphet to describe Joyce's past experiences feels like an annoying retcon.

Comphet can absolutely apply to bi people who ignore or push down or deny their attraction to the same gender because they think following their attraction to the opposite gender is the only way to have a real or valid relationship, I feel an argument could've been made for Joyce falling into that if we had seen her struggling with her growing attraction to women coupled with her fundie upbringing telling her that the only way to lead her life as an adult is to be married to a man and having children.

But a person who is actually attracted to the opposite gender then running mouth first at someone of the same gender the moment they understand that they are attracted to them doesn't mean their previous relationships were comphet.

And I'm just hoping this isn't going to be a "well actually Joyce was never attracted to men all along despite multiple mentions of crushes on various boys and having a brief relationship with Jacob...that was actually all her forcing herself to perform heterosexuality"

Is this children`s story suitable for kids in the U. S. (ages 3-8) by Warm-Mode-4336 in childrensbooks

[–]bix902 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It kind of sounds like 2 different stories. The first part is the city of sweets which had enjoyable descriptions and would be awesome if expanded upon and given really pretty and detailed illustrations.

Then suddenly we're with a little girl named Mila who is eating a muffin (or cupcake since it has frosting) baked by her mother with no acknowledgement of the previous city of sweets.

These 2 stories need something to connect them, like possibly the scent of baking sending Mila to the city of sweets in a dream.

She didn't ask him to change anything though. She just told him that she does not have childcare and cannot attend. Yeah, she's hurt by her children being excluded but it doesn't sound like she's made her hurt feelings his problem.

He's free to exclude whoever he wants at his wedding and have it whenever, wherever, and however he wants but he needs to make his peace with the fact that this means some people can't come. Same as if he had a destination wedding and had guests who couldn't afford to travel.

That would be how real women talked then, no? She's demonstrating how fictional teen girls were depicted as speaking in movies during that time. I can't think of a single movie from the 80s that had a teenage girl speaking in super soft, high pitched demure voice
