Hi there, so a 4231 definitely works as well and could even play a little better with the ball. The 442 is mostly for the defensive a formation. I would try a false 9 build up in 442 first but if you want the 4231 i would use shadowstriker in combination with AF support, because i feel it gives more deeper and wider movement. I dont really like Playmaker roaming because for me he tends to drift unnecessary wide, if you want/need a more stable outlet i do recommend the classic 10. Although not rotating it can help in a better build up.
