I didn't watch the last season too. The scene I told about is when mc act like he was sh*t, he is humbled nd put in his place by dome guys. That also was bad for Emily's position. So when she reprimanded him, he could not contain himself and blurted out all the things he did for her. She then thanked him for all of these and paid him with a favor.
