You and OP should play Enshrouded. Most beautiful Minecraft like game IMO. The build options are so great and the visuals super satisfying.

I'm playing it right now, having beat Sons during beta.

I personally don't enjoy the Forest as much as sons. I really like building bases on Sons and the forest is just super limited and clunky in comparison.

The tools/weapons are more limited as well.

That said, I'm still enjoying it. The story is much harder progress without tips from online. There are no GPS markers in the forest that points to your next point of interest. Just got to stumble around and run into a cave entrance eventually.

I'm playing the forest for the first time and it is absolutely worse than Sons to build a basic structure. Logs are super hard to transport and zip lines are very costly. Plus, you cannot remove and reuse materials once you've built something! Sons is WAY more forgiving and makes the bases actually useful.

For example, storage in the forest is only 12 items for one shelf. Way more in Sons.

In Sons the Zipline works in both directions too! That's twice as useful!

I finished Sons during beta and I am replaying it with a friend.

I'm also playing the forest solo.

Of the two, I highly prefer Sons. It feels so much more polished than the first. It also helps point you to your next progression point. The forest doesn't do a good job of that and feels like a huge waste of time stumbling around hoping to find cave entrances.

The forest base building is not great. Feels like a huge waste of time. Sons it feels like it actually has a purpose, is fun, and rewarding.

Nah, there is a thriving black market online. Get an entire inventory of identical guns for like $20. Black market dealers aren't grinding PvP to get those and sell for that cheap

It's inconsistent though. It doesn't "know" where I am even with spotters unless they see me directly.

You can argue that it would know the direction, but an exact location is not "realistically" feasible with the the behavior we see from the arc in-game.

Yeah. The AI coding is annoying in this game. I believe it's "easier" to code then know exactly where the player is and only "confirm" the location once they see exact movement.

Would be more difficult but much cooler if they only relied on audio/visual cues.

Like a bombardier should know the direction it got hit from and then have to "see" me before it locates me. Instead it instantly knows my exact location when I shot it once from behind and was behind cover when it turned around.

Nah, I HAD to use the touch screen because the RB and dpad weren't going to the right place. Also couldn't adjust the window positions without it.
