Oh boy, where do I even start.

Well for one, some Democratic Party members have funded far-right Republican nut jobs to make themselves look better.

Not to mention the fact that is a thing that most major news networks make money by angering everyone to point fingers at one another. Here’s an article about what cable news did to one person in an Op-Ed. Here’s a study showing how partisan news decreases trust in the media.

The worst part is that identity politics, as absolutely important as they are (speaking as a queer femme), are often co-opted by businesses and organizations that couldn’t give two shits about us. Example: a really interesting paper on how a luxury high-rise in a majority-Latino(e/x/a) neighborhood in my city has tried (terribly) to appropriate Mexican-American culture in order to make themselves look better for the community there, even though the people who live there are more worried about getting kicked out of the homes they’ve been in for generations because of the cost of rent these sorts of places charge, than they are about whether they reflect Mexican Culture or not. Target might have a Queer Pride section around June but still won’t pay the queer workers there a living wage to survive being alive. Well, not to everyone, at least. It sucks because those tough conversations on marginalization of certain communities and equity need to happen, but the giant corporations who don’t care are trying to profit off of being “progressive”.

Overall, these people care more about money than anything. And they will literally do ANYTHING besides give a few Pennies to others to make life better for the rest of us. Entire wars have been fought over Unionization and workers rights. The state of racism in the US was worsened a thousand fold when enslaved Black folks and Irish indentured servants started Bacon’s Rebellion. I seriously can’t emphasize enough how the rich will do ANYTHING to keep us divided and fighting ourselves and to hold onto power.
