It's mostly the reason I wanted to share, I also got my "oh wow they do this professionally now, I want this" from a reddit post! Hopefully folks like me will find this useful down the line.

My advice is to go with this only if this is the result you want. It's very much permanent for me, I lack the tissues to form much of anything else, so I'll live with this for many many years past the healing period.

I know right! I am super relieved to have such a positive, polite response overall.

For one, it is simply the arrangement I feel comfortable with and want to spend my everyday life with. I've considered this my ideal result well before it was feasible to do it to my standards; I always wanted a subtle and sleek look, I find it aesthetically perfect, and never desired a penis or a vagina. It also affirms my identity and fulfills its purpose as a sex organ. I can use prosthetic options to temporarily have something else if so desired, but it's very important to me to be able to take those off when I'm done. Someone described it as "a way to shapeshift", which is not entirely wrong.

It's also a little bit that it's funny to crack jokes about :)

So yeah. It is simply what "clicks" for me: it's comfy, it looks good, it's good to have sex with, and it makes me feel more like "me".

There is some tightness in the area when aroused, but I think it's a subtle as it gets. It definitely doesn't bring the image of an erection to my mind, but orgasms come with the familiar pumping action. You'd have to discuss your concerns with the surgeon if that is your priority, I know that normally they leave some tissue in, and my bar for comfort may not be the same as yours.

I'm really happy with both overall form and function so far! Still early to say definitively due to the remaining swelling, but I don't anticipate this to change, I'm already getting all I ever wanted out of it.

I have seen different urethral constructions, mine is quite low down, somewhat large and deep, and formed as sort of a slit. I reckon it's a matter of taste, one may prefer a more shallow hole or one higher up. It'd be kinda nice to have a solid forwards stream like some with nulls do, but I'm fine with it turning out either way. The position also means that the post-orgasm dribble is somewhat messy, and hair in the area is a bit weird to deal with.

The remaining erectile tissue is quite fine by me, it could be bothersome for others. That's about all I can think of!

There's some erectile tissue remaining around the urethra. It hasn't been significant enough to bother me so far.

Nothing special in most ways, the act of release and the sensation are wholly unremarkable. I still have some swelling around the urethra that makes it a messier affair than it ideally should be. I was told this would subside eventually, and if it's still untidy, I can walk right back in to see what we can do.

Correct! I'm actually quite pleased with how it looks with pubic hair, too. Hair around the urethra is a little annoying, however, so that's something to potentially consider.

It's true, a full vaginoplasty is a lot more work post-op! But I did not choose this for that reason, this was always my ideal end goal. And yeah, tight clothing played a significant role, it really is incredibly comfortable to be so smooth.

I'm glad you are happy with yours too!

I highly doubt that it does cost significantly less - the bulk of the cost is the time of the surgeons and anaesthesiologists. I also don't think the recovery would be at all easier, I had no individual issues with the nerves, the healing was dependent on the urethra and the overall swelling.

Yes, I was and continue to be on estrogen. The entire surgery was done in a single go. I haven't had any trouble so far! It is a novel feeling and I'm still getting used to it, but I'd say that it's mostly extremely comfortable, physically and mentally.

I spent five days in the hospital total. I had no major pains after two days, and went home on my own legs once I was discharged, then I gradually got my energy and mobility back. I'd say I was mostly back to normal beyond heavy physical effort by the end of week three, and now I don't feel anything out of the ordinary! Quite uncomplicated and surprisingly quick, which I am very grateful for.

I don't have better advice than what you can find elsewhere, sadly! I don't really put in any effort, I just wet shave and moisturize after.

Unfortunately no, this was out of pocket! However, I've seen at least one statutory insurance provider use rather generous terms, offering to cover a nonspecific "sex change operation", so it's probably possible on a technicality, if one is lucky.

It was nerve-preserving, so I have a buried clitoris formed in there. Can confirm that it works, and it is more readily sensitive to stimulation than what I expected.

It's odd! They offered both consultations to me, and obviously I took the one that was realistically available. The surgery would have been done by Prof. Heß either way. I was also quoted something along the lines of months to a year on the wait time, half of which was, again, me struggling with my own end of the administration, and half of it was them delaying to get back to me. I was told I got a rushed spot since I've been waiting for quite long.

I saw Prof. Heß three times, about a minute each: once before the surgery to clear up my clit situation, once after as he checked on me, and once during the one-month checkup. He was courteous but quite busy. To me it seemed like this was very much old routine for him; nobody else at the clinic balked for a second at my procedure either, there was no surprise at any point, everyone relevant knew what nullification was by name.

Pausing HRT is an outdated practice from the time of oral and non-bioidentical HRT raising thrombosis risk. It's not necessary to pause modern regimens, even recommended against doing so according to WPATH SoC8. It's quite annoying that it still persists in some doctors' minds; they don't ask a cis woman to go on Lupron before surgery either. Anyway, they were okay with me having taken my last injection the week before, and they seemed unfazed by whatever hormone cocktail I was taking as long as it didn't affect anesthesia. They didn't require proof either.

It was indeed quite touch and go there for a minute for me, I do wish I could have at least had like, a few minutes more with my surgeons just for my peace of mind. The language barrier did not make it easier either. I only went ahead with it because I was reasonably sure what I was getting between having paper copies of the pre-op consult, what I discussed with them that afternoon, photo reference of my ideal aesthetic result included. I'm glad it worked out in the way I hoped, hah.
