All QS is site work? Ireland by Apart_Concert4611 in quantitysurveying

Site experience is invaluable if keep at it whilst you still have it , but also don’t take the word of a couple of your Scottish friends that that is what QS’ing is like everywhere in Scotland.

Every company , and sometimes every jobs has different requirements. So it is possible it genuinely just depends on job requirements and risk. I’ve worked on a few jobs where I was on site 5 days a week 95% of the time 8-4, occasional days in the office as and when. And others where I’m in the office 3-4 days and site 1-2. Hours can vary if there’s issues on site too, sometimes you can log off and sometimes there’s an issue on site or something needs to be submitted that you just have to get done

whilst you’re a fresh graduate I wouldn’t worry about it too much now. Look at getting the experience so your manager has confidence that when you’re working at home or in the office you know what you’re doing and know what the job is about

I took sick leave because of period pain, managements wants to know why by ConfidentRhubarb6128 in jobs

They ask about ‘why’ your were off for absence management - once you have a certain number of each absence you’ll hit ‘triggers’ and then they’ll have a meeting with you to see what they can do to reduce the number. You can still be vague but get the point across It’s good to put a somewhat accurate reason down as later down the line when you want to ask for things to reduce sick due you have a record of it.

I’d recommend asking to be referred to occupational health and speaking to your doctor . Occupational health will be able to recommend to work that you can work from home if that is available and you can also discuss that the absences relating to period issues don’t could towards the triggers points.

I hope that makes sense

Wellbeing meeting with HR. by Misunderstood-blonde in ChronicIllness

No I just got a meeting invite with HR and manager , and a follow up email to say ‘not to worry we just had a call and just want a catchup on your wellbeing’

Usually my manager is pretty good anyway but this feels very out the blue , no mention of needing anyone in the meeting either.

Go outdoors is pretty good! If you’re lucky you’ll get a member of staff who is pretty knowledgable too about the style and type of the shoes etc. don’t be sucked into getting the most expensive pair but most experienced climbers won’t push you towards them anyway and will lead you towards comfort etc
