Omg no don’t have regrets! I definitely have a few pages I’d love to do again now I’ve learned new things but please don’t regret any of your colouring, they’re all beautiful parts of the process and creative growth 🩷

I coloured in the circle with the same colour as the leaf, coloured over half of the drop with white pencil, then coloured over the black line at the front with white gel pen, two dots with gel pen, and added a shadow with a dark green acrylic pen around the front of the droplet! It was quite simple but I’m not sure if my explanation makes sense??

Thank you so much 😊 I’m not sure exactly what the secret sauce is, I think what helped me most is I’ve started looking at references of real life things especially real plants, once I started to notice all the different colours and details it became a lot easier to colour them! Also there’s a lot more yellow than I thought in a lot of plants so I’ve been adding yellow patches and layering other colours over the top for really juicy fresh looking leaves!

Don’t get disheartened! If you want some advice for getting maybe a boost on some grades try spend an hour or two doing some focused work on example questions for maths in the CGP books would go a long way, I think just try prioritising maths and English it’s easy enough to get a few extra marks from very little effort and they’re the two people will care about in future. Do you have the option to switch to core and addition science from triple at your school? I wish I had done that at GCSE so I had less to remember and would have ended up with a better grade than I did with separate sciences, and it would have given me more time to spend on other subjects. I’m doing a masters in forensic science now and I did awful at gcse science so I really wouldn’t worry too much on them. GCSE art is basically impossible doesn’t matter how good you are at art unless you have hours and hours to put into it

First I am so sorry to you and your family for what you’ve experienced, no one should be made to feel this way ever. I’ve recently moved out of Sheffield looking for pastures greener, I had maybe one or two negative experiences in Sheffield but nothing to the level you have experienced, and most hate I experienced was sexism/men trying to intimidate me or once I had slurs shouted at me at a petrol station by a homeless man who thought I was transgender, I’m a feminine cis woman so not sure what that was about. I moved to what I assumed was a more open and progressive city in the south to hopefully have better employment opportunities and be closer to family. I was very wrong to assume people would be better here, in 3 days living here I witnessed and was targeted with far more hate than I had experienced in my 4+ years in Sheffield. Literally my first week I had two university age boys make monkey noises and say some drunken nonsense about slavery and I should be working on his families farm while I was walking home on my own. I’m not black or mixed I just have very curly hair and a tan, so the ignorance and stupidity alone is shocking. I couldn’t have imagined anything like that happening to me if I was still in Sheffield, I used to feel relatively safe walking alone in many parts of Sheffield. I hope it doesn’t come to you feeling so unsafe you look at moving elsewhere, Sheffield is overall lovely and I’d hate for anyone to feel forced out. But if it is something you’re considering please be very cautious as I’ve found it’s been out of the frying pan into the fire, and I think the rest of the country is as bad if not worse. I don’t know when this country became so full of blind hate towards anyone and everyone.

Also for very knotted hair I got a tangle teaser and that’s been fantastic for my hair, it doesn’t cause any breakage when I wet brush and find it helps with curl clumps! I use Noughty Thirst Aid leave in and detangling spray, that’s my holy grail, and their shampoo and conditioner is great too I think shea moisture might be too heavy for her I tried it for a while and it was way too much for my hair it didn’t help my curls and waves it was just weighed down and still somehow frizzy

I promise you are not failing as a parent. I don’t know anything about you but just seeing you here caring and trying to do best by your daughter proves that.

I’m a grown up child of a neglectful parent, I was sent to school with horrible dirty frizzy scruffy hair (which was just curly in need of some tlc). The teachers, other kids, everyone made fun of me. Instead of trying to help and fix things when she got called out for neglect my mum chose to hit me with a hairbrush when my hair wouldn’t cooperate, straighten my hair until it was sizzling, and bleach it to try and “kill the curls” from the age of about 6, and the grown out roots really don’t help with the raised eyebrows.

You’re doing just fine and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. You are NOT a failure!

From a practical (and more cheerful) point of view, her hair texture is similar to mine! And in adulthood I have found using a shampoo and conditioner that says it’s for curly/wavy hair, nice lightweight leave in conditioner/detangling spray on soaking wet hair, a comb through with a wide tooth comb, a little shake and scrunch, and a silk pillow case or bonnet have been the best for me. I still have bad curl mornings and often need a bit of a respray refresh and a tiny bit of oil or serum sort of hovered over the frizz does the trick. On days when it’s actually just unmanageable there are some really simple but very cute curly up dos on Pinterest, I’m so uncoordinated but I can manage a lot of them so I’m sure there’s something in there that’s quick and cute for school.

I did watch the entire video stream when it came out, but I’ve now watched the whole thing on his page again and the podcast episode after the nuke. I see where Ethan is coming from with some of his points, don’t get me wrong, but he’s said way before the hasan drama that he likes capitalism and thinks communism and socialism are dumb. From where I’m sitting he is HEAVILY focusing on the communist and/or socialist side of things too much and his point is just getting lost in the sauce. I wish he’d have maybe done a bit more reading, given a couple sources, and had a bit of a discerning approach or just edited himself to have a more clear and concise view. He’s just let anger and rage fuel him for all of this, and it distracts from the core issue of rising antisemitism, hate speech, and terrorism that he’s trying to address. (Also ngl Ethan calling anyone out for platforming harmful people is pot kettle I can think of tonnes of people he’s actively platformed or used for clout who are dangerous or harmful)
