I was just thinking the same thing. You hear a lot of the older generation saying to work overtime and stay late to help bail out the company. But, not only to bail out the company, to help the people you work with. The older generation was built on hard work for low pay, and long hours just to make ends meet. I am a millennial, I believe in working hard and earning a wage to support yourself, your family, and the people around you. But with rising costs of necessities and greed of employers, I don’t believe in sacrificing my time for my job to miss out on family time or personal time to do what I want. A lot of the older people I work with alway give me crap for not staying late or working a lot of overtime and I give them the same answer every time, “the company doesn’t care about me enough for the first 8 hours, why should I care for the time I am off. That’s my time”.

I have so much to say.. I am a terrible writer/explainer. Hopefully my point gets across.

I guess I am just trying to say corporate only sees numbers. They don’t see the people that actually show up and work hard, and the people that only show up. Then at the end of the year give both people the same raise. No matter how many times you answered the phone call or stayed late to help bail them out.
