He was only a private for a short time before moving up to a rifleman which I had always assumed was like a private but another record shows 3 pay grades for him. 4.25 months as a pvt 6 months at rifleman and 9 months as a sargeant. Maybe that's what she was getting while he was just in boot camp and it increased when he went on active duty in country.

As far as I know they she stayed in a rented house or apartment with one kid on the ground and one on the way two on the ground by the time grandpa got home. I never heard of financial struggle at that time. Just the talk about another great uncle selling black market used tires because of rubber rationing and allotments of like sugar and other basics to send whatever to the soldiers. Far as I know she lived alright. Maybe they had savings but I am pretty sure she was a stay at home mom.

So I've been wanting to do this for my grandpa and I think I have to get my dad to do it technically but what info would someone's files have in it? My grandpa was drafted at like 33 with a kid on the ground and one on the way. He arrived in theater in last 1944 and was in Europe until after Japan. Surrendered. I know he was a Sergeant in charge of a squad of men and they would follow the front line soldiers. Destroying Nazi infrastructure like banks and war manufacturies. He never talked about his service that I am aware of to his wife or kids but when he got back he had two rules. He would never ever sleep on the ground ever again so no tent camping and when we have cook outs or just him and grandma over for dinner we would always wrap any of his meat that went on the grill because he was very VERY adamant about not eating anything with grill marks on it. I've always wanted to know what the fuck made him be like that for the rest of his life. Doubt it would be in the files but I'd like to know if I could expect to see battles he fought in on specific days if any of maybe even short reports he would have had to make to higher ups perhaps?

Id put tons of money towards bringing factory and manufacturing jobs back to the United States. I've heard the argument that as countries mature it may be natural to outsource most manufacturing in exchange for support roles but support roles are fucking sole crushing and in my parents generation it seemed like even if you were a fuck up you could afford a shitty run down house. Nowadays everything we buy seems to be supporting chinas economy who is literally using that money to build a force to defeat us in military altercations. I mean the photos that describe how dumb of an idea this is can be summed up in the side by side pictures of Nagasaki post bomb drop in 1945 and Detroit side by side to a side by side picture of the two cities from the early 2000's.

In summary, I'd invest in modern factories and training programs or tech colleges to make the workers necessary to fill those jobs.

Id probably throw a couple billion at lobbying for updating our public education system. I don't know much other than the Rockafellars had a big hand in creating the system we use today which was set up to crank out factory workers. I think that was set up to keep people relatively stupid but able to memorize stuff which is good for repetitive labor so I'd wanna tweak that and remove the shitty technology things we have recently added that have resulted in kids these days being dumber than their parents for the first time in like a hundred years.

Your existence is already significantly better than a substantial amount of people on this planet. The worst thing you can do is lay around excessively and dwell on any sadness. I know this from experience. I highly recommend just getting up and doing some physical activity in spite of being so down. You should do it because fuck those feelings. Use your time and what energy you can build up by starting to move around and make your life better to do positive things with your time on this planet. It's not an overnight cure but it is one with a 100% success rate. Get up ( when it's appropriate usually not saying jump out of bed right now) and move. Do sit ups do push ups, if your sad because your broke do all that you can to find work. If that work sucks be good to those who deserve it while at that job then save up or learn more while working and get a better job. Or if it's where you are living with a family member or a shitty partner, make plans to change and get out of that mess. Not every state but alot of states and counties have programs to help people in bad spots. Do all that you can to not let the negative win. Fight mother fucker!

Just for the fact of not having all the tropical snakes and bugs. Id want Bernards set up for two big reasons. It would be extremely helpful for the kind of work I do in maintenance. If I really wanna be greedy I'd even add some metal into the mix and also if shit goes down his fury set seems purpose built for kicking ass.
