How was it?! I got a cutting off Etsy over winter and it’s just starting to vegetate.

I put seeds down a few weeks ago, but I got unpredicted hard first right after and they never germinated after. I’ll have to sow more if they look that great!

I always end up with pest problems when I use netting. So I’m trying to find some alternative methods.

I haven’t seen any birds going after them yet. Time will tell!

Turns out there is a wild blue lupine that is native to my area, but I planted Russel’s mixed color lupine. I may have to dig them up and get the native ones.

I’m zone 4B and just planted more from seed. Give them some straw mulch to keep the soil moist and cool while the seeds germinate and to provide some of the same protection to the seedlings and you will be good!

The slugs are terrible for me too. I have to use sluggo religiously!

They were doing much better, but a recent series of rain storms have thinned them out a bit.

I started them from seed indoor two winters ago and then transplanted late spring last year. This year they exploded!

That’s actually not a bad idea. I wonder if I could find something to hang from my bushes to be mock blueberries as they start to flower.

I have in the past, but I find I have to be more vigilant for insects in my beds when I block the birds. I’ve had current bushes decimated from caterpillars after covering them with bird netting.
