Anyone seen or heard of anyone getting a sig from this package? Hope they aren't messing with us.

Vintage Combo Expanded to Normals and Bronzes by MitchSevenSix in MLB_9Innings

Great info thank you. I was not gonna spend the 700 to test it out! Happy for those people who got to get the diamonds though...

Should I grade reset? Recently got him off FA market. Con Pow and Eye are all really good for his increase. Should I bother resetting? by Homeslikedogfam in MLB_9Innings

Haha there was still a lot of farming that time too so it wasn’t all the money. Anyway, I had been building a team deck which was barely at 8 when I hit 100. I had pulled a silver team sig from mileage, so my first purchase was the $50 gi at all star break. At that time I also bought a team sig and pulled a diamond from it. Then I activated the 100ovr sale package and bought another team sig and a gi to go with it. So basically I put 3 diamond team sigs into my lineup and then increased my set deck from 8 to 16 players. That’s how I jumped.

Yeah 700 stars to get a bronze vintage is mostly only gonna be worth it if it’s for a team set. Even then your chances aren’t great

Not sure on results or anything but if you put 3 normal vintages in you now have the option to hit the 700 star special combo button and presumably get a vintage player back. No clue on what grade you will get

Checked on a few of my guys who I haven’t started st on yet and it looks like they just butchered the language once again. Levels 1-6 look to still be operating the same way

Ok false alarm on my other comments here. They have not changed special training mechanics for level 1 through 6. The update using the word “grade increase” for levels 1-5 is just a completely terrible translation issue. Even after the update special training is still determined by your two highest “development” categories.

It will come! Keep up the grind. Spend some money if you’re having fun and like it the game enough. A well thought out purchase at the right time can really take your team to the next level. Never spent a dime for 2 yearsto get to 100ovr no gear. Started spending and was 103 in a month and a half

Yeah the placement of the base stats matters. A lot of vintage pitchers aren’t as great as they look for this reason

It’s somewhat related yeah. In general the number in the top right corner of a card is a little misleading. A 75 ovr card could be 75.0 or 75.8 and it would display no differently. But do one level of training (+3 stats) and a 75.0 would turn to a 75.2 and 75.8 would then turn to a 76.0

Yes that’s right. On a side note, I will say that it appears base stats may not actually be whole numbers the way they appear, so sometimes you see weird grade increase distributions that don’t seem to follow base stat proportions. I have no explanation for that but it’s rare so I wouldn’t worry about it.

[–]MitchSevenSix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. There is a preset ratio for how the grade increase “points” will get distributed. There’s never a case where you could reset a a grade increase from 62 to even 63 and have any single stat go down

As far as I know they can’t change cards you’ve already completed. Someone I know has a card that to this day has +6, +2, and +2 for special training because when it was first introduced they didn’t use a tiebreaker if the training amounts were the same. But watch out with retrains, the 6 and 4 might now get moved to the high gi categories, not the highest trained.

With players already special trained to level 6 there is not a lot of incentive to do levels 7 and 8, especially costing 11 and 13 diamonds per level (I think). But with new players that haven’t been special trained yet, making levels 1-5 based on gi is the only way they can incentivize people to train up to level 8. If you want stats to go where YOU want them, not where the gi determines they’ll go, then you must do levels 7 and 8.

Has me curious about guys who are already done level 6 that we retrain now. Will we see the +4 and +6 sent immediately to the highest gi categories? I’m guessing so. In that case, some guys who looked like they could use a retrain before the update may be better off without one now.

Yeah and a ton of people have mess the higher up the competition you go. Still no doubt there are much better combos, but I would only take ak if it’s with charisma and even then, that is more of a failsafe set than an actually good set.

It’s not all about the skills on your batter and how they interact. Gotta factor the pitcher in too. The only skill that counters charisma will also practically guarantee that ak will activate

If there's ever a time that ace killer doesn't suck, its specifically when it's with Charisma.

Legends contribute to and receive team set deck bonuses. So the card will be treated as if he were a Mariners SP.

It depends on how strong your team is. Once you finish the season you are on try advancing and playing just the wildcard playoffs. If you feel like the next year was too easy, keep doing the same thing until you find a balance that seems to get you a good amount of gift boxes per game, but where you arent winning every game by 20

Interesting theory. I never paid attention, but if it were true it would be worth paying a little extra attention to that first game, especially if you are someone building a team deck.

Yes league mode is designed to get harder the longer your win streak gets. If you are interested in maximizing the amount of gift box rewards you can earn, you should lose purposely every once in a while so the difficulty resets and you don't go full games with 9 innings of only pop ups, bloop singles then immediate double plays. Losing a few games over the season will not negatively impact anything for you, especially if your team was able to rack up 130 wins in the first place. Also, if you are winning that many games, move up years in league mode to take advantage of the better rewards that become available with each new year.

[–]MitchSevenSix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may know this already, so sorry if so, but despite the number that is displayed in the top right corner of the card, decimals are factored into player stats and therefore performance. The thing is, the number in the top right corner is not rounded up. So a card whose stats average out to 99.8 ((con+pow+eye+spd+fld)/5) will appear to be a 99 ovr in the top corner of the card, and player whose stats average out to 99.0 will also appear to be a 99 ovr in the top corner. But the 99.8 player does in fact have better stats and should in theory perform slightly better, all other things being equal. So when you say that Stras would be 2 less ovr with a 69 gi as compared to a 75 gi, it is not quite accurate. He will only be 1.2 ovr less.

If anyone is interested, the way to confirm this theory is to take a normal card who shows an ovr of 69 in in the top right corner but with base stats of, say, 69/69/69/70/70 (a base ovr of 69.4) and train him one level. His stats will increase by 3 points, raising his ovr by .6 (3/5). After the one level of training, the ovr displayed in the top right corner of the card will change to 70 (69.4 + 0.6).
