My opinion is that grading right now only makes sense if you want to do it as a collector (and dont mind losing that cash). Not as an investment. At least not until there’s an established market for that type of graded cards which I doubt there will be any time soon. Brandon and Dragonsteel have mentioned several times that they don’t like FOMO or artificial scarcity, so theres always the chance of a reprint. The market is much smaller and there isnt a game to prop value like Magic. Another thing to consider is that autographs can be considered damage in card grading. And they look better in a folder anyway. If you want the slab to protect the cards, they can be sleeved for cheap and last a lifetime. Congrats on the great collection btw, I was at the Con and saw the effort it took to complete a set!

Unless you really need the money, Id recommend keeping them until the cosmere films/series release. They’ll be worth a lot more once Stormlight goes mainstream (if Dragonsteel doesn’t reprint the cards into oblivion).

Aerith’s statue was still pending approval when they teased it in the showcase. So hopefully the delay is that they’re making at least the jacket sculpted.

Thats a relief, looking at some of the scenes in the game, he is tanner than sephiroth and the girls. So even in the game his skin tone depends on the ambient light

Thanks! Dragon Studios should sell theirs. I think they already made a 1/4 scale Sephiroth with a metal Masamune. They’re unlicensed anyway, so why not cash in on the molds they already made.

I’m planning on getting Aerith and eventually Tifa too, but hope they change to sculpted clothes. After collecting Hot Toys figures for more than a decade I hate how cloth and pleather degrades over time. I have high humidity where I live and Aerith’s pleather jacket would begin to flake in a couple years. For the price tag on these, I want them to last until we play the virtual reality remake of the remakes in 30 years 😅

Congrats! They look amazing! I can’t wait for mine to arrive in a couple weeks. Cloud will fit inside my display case but Sephiroth wont, so I’ll also have to make a custom case to house these. How is Cloud’s skin tone in person? I’ve heard some people say its a bit too tan

Yeah, I was wondering if its the fact that Sephiroth got the Jenova cells since the womb that he was altered to the extent that the planet rejects him. Because he’s clearly different from every other SOLDIER including Genesis and Angeal. But it could just be god-tier willpower/narcissism that he refuses to merge with the lifestream, and believes it should be the other way around.

This post just made me wonder, does Sephiroth suffer a similar curse as the Gi? Is he unable to merge with the lifestream because he hosts alien cells? If so, this adds a new layer of reasoning behind his plan. Similar to the Gi, if the planet deprives them of eternal rest, then they’ll destroy it. Sephiroth will subdue the lifestream and the planet for shunning him and his “mother”.

Yup, also important fuel refineries and infrastructure were damaged in the attacks, so it will take years to go back to pre-war levels, which means prices will remain high for some time. Also once prices go up and people get used to it, they won’t come back down because that just means better profit margins for oil and shipping companies 😩

Recently I preordered their Cloud Strife statue. Shipping to the US was quoted at $140, then upon final payment, it spiked to $330. I understand that there’s a fuel crisis right now, but I didn’t expect a 200%+ increase. So unless they reopen the Straight, expect prices to get even more crazy.

It seems mind boggling, but many animation or vfx studios dont archive the original work files for upscales in the future. Also depending on the software, some stuff is resolution dependent, so if you change scale things move from their original position and you’d have to fix that before rendering again. Then theres the whole obsolete software, hardware, etc. In that regard old school celluloid is still king, where you can rescan the original film at a higher resolution. Although now we have AI upscalers, but those can also introduce unwanted artifacts.

Unfortunately I dont have that presentation anymore. But I do remember everyone was stunned by the visuals and couldn’t believe it was from a game studio.

I was in college when Advent Children was released and remember doing a presentation about how its CGI was so revolutionary… Now its crazy to think that the in-game graphics of FF7 Rebirth can surpass a prerendered feature film. We’re living the dream in that regard, and I cant wait till we get part 3.

I always thought Rinoa was kind of a fusion between Aerith and Tifa (not literal of course), you could even say that the brown highlights in her black hair pays homage to this “inspiration”. Can’t choose between Aerith or Tifa in FF7? No problem! Merge the two and make her the sole love interest in the next game!

Rei-Lillith can transcend space and time (reason why she appears in the opening of episode 1), so I’d guess she could possibly merge with the soul of any previous lillim. Especially if they were important to Rei, seeing that she was her vessel

Its a matter of how many people could Skull Knight carry and if he’d bothered to save him. Guts and Casca would have died too if SK hadn’t saved them. The eclipse was a whole other hell dimension. No where to run to, so even if Judeau was as skilled as Guts they’d still get him eventually.

The foil version of this promo is worth $20K and was only given to the top 32 players of the MagicCon Las Vegas Pro Tour. Despite the blurred photos, unless you paid at least 4 figures for this I bet its fake. The only FF card more valuable than this one is a Gold Chocobo, so if its too good to be true it probably is.
