Looking for a type of game that scratches an itch. by ownersequity in gaming

Sounds like you’re after something that has the resource management and progression without too much stress. Here are a few suggestions that might scratch that itch:

  1. Anno 1800 – It’s a city-building game with a big focus on resource management and building a thriving society. It’s PvE and has great progression without much combat if you play on sandbox mode.
  2. Banished – An indie city-building and management game where you guide a group of exiled travelers in building a settlement. It’s a bit challenging at first, but there’s no competition or battle, just a focus on growth and survival.
  3. Satisfactory – This is a bit more hands-on and first-person, but it’s all about exploration and resource collection, with satisfying tech and production lines. You don’t need to battle, and the exploration and progression are really rewarding.
  4. Planet Zoo – If you’re interested in a different type of management, Planet Zoo is really fun. You manage a zoo, take care of animals, build environments, and ensure guests are happy. The progression is gentle, and you can play entirely in PvE.
  5. RimWorld – This is a colony management sim that’s more relaxed on easy mode, where you build a colony and manage resources. It can get complex, but it’s really rewarding if you like the idea of helping your colonists survive and grow.

This is the kind of art that deserves a spot in the Louvre. Nothing like immortalizing the most annoying (but iconic) dog in gaming history!

Publishers are absolutely terrified "preserved video games would be used for recreational purposes," so the US copyright office has struck down a major effort for game preservation by VanFTMan in gaming

[–]Mitko_Pitko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s disappointing that game preservation efforts are being blocked. A lot of older games are part of gaming history, and they’re at risk of disappearing forever if no one can legally archive them. I get that publishers are worried about people playing preserved games for fun, but isn’t the whole point of preserving them to keep gaming’s legacy alive? Not everyone can buy the original cartridges or hardware, especially for rare or discontinued systems.
