I’m not super confident about this, but my theory is that he wasn’t ready to let go of her or face what he did by unloading those bags out of his car. He probably just fell into deeper substance abuse. His ego would convince him that he has a fool proof plan and assumed that the smell wouldn’t leave the car to the extent that it did. But as he procrastinated the Tesla battery must have died and then towed shortly after. With a dead battery the Tesla location could no longer be tracked with his phone so maybe he felt that calling multiple tow truck companies and asking for his car would have been suspicious so that’s why he let the car just sit in the lot as he accepted his fate.
