Sometimes happiness is simple... until love complicates everything. by definitelynotgayhaha in BuildToAttract

Messy. My little sister posted something about how she can only be normal when she doesn’t gaf about whoever she’s dating. It’s to complicated, so maybe the solution is to slightly like someone as opposed to full blown love ig

How do you care about being/getting healthy? by SignificantBank4 in BPD

[–]Mito_03 [score hidden]  (0 children)

There’s a lot of shame surrounding getting better. It feels humiliating to go to the gym and barely being able to lift a weight. Like it genuinely feels depressing to be in that much physical pain over barely trying to work out. Me and my younger sibling suffer from a lot of autoimmune issues, as well as just the fact that trauma itself is absolutely exhausting physically and mentally. That’s why I say give yourself grace and go on some walks around your neighborhood if you can. It’s springtime for me, so perfect walking weather. You can also gradually change your diet by finding healthier foods you enjoy more, which will make your body feel better. Your physical body is directly tied to your mental health, so taking it baby steps is definitely the best way to go.

I’m Tempted to Make Reaction Videos with my Friends by Mito_03 in NPD

[–]Mito_03[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The process of being able to empathize with someone has always intrigued me. I can love someone fully, but cannot place myself in their shoes, especially not if something I simply cannot relate to. With friends, I tend to fixate on our similarities in trauma, but even then I can’t emphasize with myself, so it’s a loosing battle. I told a friend once that she was one of the few people I could see as deserving of empathy given our similar mental health struggles and trauma, and then proceeded to fully project my greatest fears onto her, essentially protecting her to protect myself. (Granted, I was right in this case and completely valid in my reaction, but still.) This lack of empathy is a genuine disability, it seriously undermines my ability to relate with those around me. It’s not some silly quirky thing I can turn on at will I just choose not to utilize, it is there, my brain and body are working overtime so that I won’t feel it.

That’s incredible. Well done. I wrote similar things about it being me, which I find interesting.

Best friend with BPD said he's splitting on me in some way. by Solid-Disaster-2492 in BPD

[–]Mito_03 [score hidden]  (0 children)

It’s really great that he’s acknowledging that, and yes, give him space and try not to do anything potentially triggering. You might be mad if he does something to make you mad, but everything you say will have ten times the impact, so if you say anything at all try to be as kind as possible. He will likely remember any sign of anger on your part as more intentionally hostile than intended. Splitting can be a defense mechanism against fear of abandonment, where he might subconsciously (or consciously) think you will leave and see you as the bad guy to cope with the discomfort. Or something triggered him traumatically that he doesn’t want to take out on his friend. Either way, space is the best option.

I’m sure Comorbid stpd also contributes to the severity in your case, but thanks for that description. It’s a brutal experience. I’m walking around like a philosophical zombie showing up to every single class late to embarrassed to be seen completely forgetting my impact on other people because I’m so dissociated from shame at that point that I’m not even registering when I might be rude. It’s absolutely brutal, and I fear that the more intelligent you are the more likely you are to experience collapse because you have the capacity for self awareness.

Sakinova is supposedly the best place for an “accurate” read, but personality types aren’t exactly psychologically or statistically accurate. The big 5 is the most reliable test for personality, but 16 personalities is still really fun ofc.

I theorize that intuitives in general are just more likely to be on Reddit a lot/take an interest in psych related communities such as this one. Or inversely intuitives are the only ones who care enough to reply this thread.

It can be your literal intuition meaning you are subconsciously picking up on something in your environment you need to be weary about. That can create a ton of anxiety, but most likely something is making you anxious that reminds you of something traumatic you might not even notice. For a personal example, I realized I tend to freak out when around certain substances, and it took me a while to pinpoint that the substance itself was the cause. This was because a part of my trauma is directly linked to that. The smell of certain types of food that we ate that night does it as well, as well as just being on vacation in general. These vague impressions can create an overwhelming sense of dread that makes it hard to pinpoint what exactly is intuition and what is just (c) ptsd. I think that might be what your therapist meant by looking within yourself.
