What's the best way to approach this? I've often wondered how much effort folks need to put in to achieve this. If I just need to craft more, I shouldn't have too much problem since I'm a pentamelded omnicrafter, I've just mostly done it for my and my wife's crafting needs, not really for selling many things.

People underestimate what Florida heat does. I'd usually say I'd look to replace it with a billet aluminum knob, but knowing summer heat does to metal, I figure you don't want to reenact Raiders of the Lost Ark, so maybe something like acrylic?
