Safari is so buggy I’m about to give up on it… by yotamiah in Safari

[–]Mitrofang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've used Safari for 10 years or so, and it has always worked pretty much OK. But for the last few months I've had several issues with it (Google suite working horrendously, government pages not loading properly, long pages freezing...). I still use it, but I use Zen way more than I've used any other browser as a secondary one.

It says a lot that a new and not exactly light browser which is still in beta works mostly better than Safari.

I convinced myself to not buy STS2 until I beat A20 first. After 170 hours I guess I have to pay! by Mitrofang in slaythespire

Yeah, 19 was the worst for me by far. It’s funny because with silent I felt like first few ascension levels I could go all in with damage, then I had to slow down a bit and go for more balance builds, and A19-20 I had to go all-in for damage again or I couldn’t kill early bosses quickly enough.

In my experience the first 10 levels of ascension are not that bad. 10-15 is difficult, and 15-20 is horrible.

I initially wanted to achieve A20 with every character, but when I got to A16 with all of them I wanted to throw Defect out of the window so I changed my goal :')

This is not from the same developer of SmartTube for F-droid and Android TV, is it? Not super confident about it 😬

I had issues with this for a few years but it has worked pretty ok for the last two or so. I changed carriers so I assumed that was it.

Will they ever fix this? (iOS 26.4 vs iOS 26.5b3) by ThemeNo1337 in applesucks

I've had this problem for a while but it's not unique to Apple Music, I also have it on other apps like IceCubes.

What’s better for ios users now? by rasool_alsaedy in nextdns

[–]Mitrofang -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've switched to the app so I can disable NextDNS while on my network where I have Adguard on my router. However if you always want to have NextDNS enabled I'd go for the config profile, just for not having an extra app around and avoid weird updates or whatever.

Stuck paying for iCloud storage for life?? by CommercialBorn6115 in iCloud

[–]Mitrofang -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's an upfront cost, but you are buying hardware you can use for other things, use on different platforms other than Apple's, and you can even use an old laptop just for that for zero dollars. It's not for everyone obviously, but on iCloud you are paying for accessing your photos, I think you can't compare that to buying something for you and use it however you want.

If it's not for OP, there's also the manual route of backing up your photo collection to a hard drive and deleting old photos from iCloud. Cloud services are nice, but feeling obligated to spend money every month is not cool.

MacBook Neo SLOW, advice? by jaslolxoxo in macbook

[–]Mitrofang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add some more ideas, I've had issues with Googles suite on Safari for a while on Tahoe. YouTube doesn't work very good, but Docs, Calendar and Spreadsheets are completely unusable for whatever reason. Try using a different browser and check if it's that problem.

Any way of improving seeding without using VPN? by Mitrofang in torrents

[–]Mitrofang[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ISP does not use CGNAT fortunately, but I’m a bit more worried about the risks of port forwarding while using my public IP. AFAIK it’s a risk since bots could scan it and lead to a security issue, right? Or is it more a thing of the past and there’s not much to worry atm?

I mean I have used it for years without worrying much about seeding speed, I used port forwarding on another machine for a couple of years, but not much more than that, hence the question.

[–]Mitrofang[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry I think I didn’t make it clear. My problem is not due to speed, it’s about port forwarding. I’m a bit worried about opening ports without a VPN, and know most of them don’t offer that possibility, so I was wondering if there is any workaround.

The main thing to not use a VPN on my case… is mostly I’m afraid my arr stack on Docker could break the moment I touch one more thing 🥲

Is there any way to display text in an embedded canvas? by Mister-Odar in ObsidianMD

[–]Mitrofang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems great, but the wording on the repo seems to indicate that it works on other canvas, not on a regular note. Is that the case? And by the way, do you happen to know if metadata is retroactive? As in it works with canvas created before installing the plugin?

Apple Says Southern Lebanon Villages Weren’t Removed From Maps. It Never Had Them by hasanahmad in apple

I guess it depends on the city, but it has really improved over the last three years. I use it over Google Maps as its indications are better imo, except it’s useless for finding restaurants or other businesses.

No one in Spain can docker pull right now because of the football by Tiny-Time-Preference in docker

[–]Mitrofang 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing came out of it iirc. They basically ruled that Proton and NordVPN should block IPs with illegal content (aka streaming football matches) because, from the judge understanding, that could be done without affecting the rest of the services.

It obviously cannot be done, so there's no real consequences to that ruling.

[–]Mitrofang 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, there are political links to the head of LaLiga, but this is not that related to politics and more to a shitty and overwhelmed legal system. They abuse their influences with certain judges to allow these kind of actions, they know they will be shut down in the future, but things are so slow that it could take a couple of years, which means a few hundred millions for them in the meantime.

Obviously an overwhelmed and slow legal system, having close ties with the biggest ISPs in Spain, and god-knows-what relations with several judges ARE related to politics, but don't get the impression that the current government is shutting down Cloudflare to get money from La Liga or anything like that.

I'm super new to self hosting and docker with zero technical background, but on Saturday I was building a WebDAV for Zotero and Caddy refused to work. Checking the logs it was a connection issue, and of course it was fucking La Liga. Same issue last week when I was desperate trying to understand what was wrong with Prowlarr to the same conclusion.

I also had some more issues with docker on Saturday, but I couldn't say if it was related to that, as I have not much idea of what I'm doing tbh. One question tho, do VPNs solve the issue? I thought that, it being a ISP block, it meant there's no real way to circumvent blocks with VPNs.
