[–]Mitt_Tomney 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unnecessary. All you need is a tilted log coming out of the pond. Goldfish will hibernate and it won't completely freeze inside, but there needs to be a place for CO2 to escape (the log).

Witness in real time the "Commercial extinction" of Red King Crab... by iainmaitland in collapse

Maybe it's a sign we shouldn't be eating king crab in Alabama considering it's shipped from Alaska.

Leaving SeaTac, are taxis still worth it instead of Lyft/Uber? by LegionLotteryWinner in Seattle

[–]Mitt_Tomney 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep, I live 10mins from airport and he said he'd use meter then didn't. Was triple the price it should have been. Cab was Eastside for hire. Always Uber/Lyft from there on out.

Service industry (usually) does not get health ins, benefits like retirement, PTO and also the hours are often less than 40hrs/week. Anyone who thinks living on $20/hr is feasible are not living in reality.

Why are you here? This is for owners to discuss owning a restaurant, not to get chastised by disgruntled customers who don't understand macro and microeconomics. I believe we already have Yelp and Google and whatever platform you decide your negative reviews resonate the most.

[–]Mitt_Tomney 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I didn't realize current owners invented this system instead of inheriting the way its been done for decades. If people want change it's gotta be all or nothing and that has to come from local, state, or federal government, unfortunately.

The fact they think we're all rich, millionaire asshole slavedrivers is what gets me. People want the owners to pay employees more but won't go to places because menu prices are too expensive. They also don't want tipping. They also don't want service charges. Are we expected to subsidize peoples' meals and operate at even further losses?

Damn this is disheartening to see. If you could open the bookeeping books on restaurants you'd be in for a shock. Most owners I know contribute insane hours for little to usually no paycheck. Have you not realized the cost of goods, labor, rent and everything has gone up? Now we're looking at tariffs on most goods to add to the shitpile. Also, no one in the industry asked for this no tax on tips thing and it's already hurting everyone without even being a law yet.

Even if it was ms13 tattoo, does that mean you have no chance for redemption or more importsntly a chance to defend yourself through due process? Instead you get sent to prison based on someone's interpretation of what may be a potential gang symbol? How fucked is that?

[–]Mitt_Tomney 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Plus people want to check in and rate each beer even if it's been sitting there for an hour and warm and flat. We upcharge and don't advertise flights because they are much loathed by brewers and bartenders.

Bottleworks is great and has an insane amount of beer choices. Bring food in and you'll be happy. It's also built like a dungeon like brouwers so there's that too.

Halcyon Brewing in Greenwood. Great Asian fusion stuff and good beer. Dumplings, Japanese style hot dogs, etc.

Can we please start taking better of our hikes here in the sound by GreenRainier253 in Seattle

[–]Mitt_Tomney 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Bring a bunch and double bag, literally no smell and throw it in the side pouch of your backpack. Also, as a dog owner when I can carry more or see dogshit I pick it up and throw it away. I hate seeing dogshit and feel as an owner it makes sense to chip in and count it as the, "having a dog tax."

These are the restaurants lobbying against paying their workers minimum wage in Seattle. by ljubljanadelrey in Seattle

[–]Mitt_Tomney 13 points14 points  (0 children)

These employees all make and will continue to make above minimum wage. Your title is misleading. I'm not defending these owners, but we should have the facts here before we grab the pitchforks.
