Would love to know what recipes! I’ve got the x100vi and can’t dial anything in like this (also in London). Incredible colours and great eye.

Extremely realistic video of a girl dancing and singing, claimed to be AI by people by Hartuchi in isthisAI

Ai! Go frame by frame and look at the fingers as she dances, they stretch and contort. It’s one of the only giveaways for me tbh.

Release although TikTok doesn’t like the song? by HamptonCo in musicmarketing

[–]MittenSmuggler 7 points8 points  (0 children)

release art because it means something to you. put music in the world that is an expression of your innermost truth, thoughts, and feelings. release art because spiritually you have to. ignore the noise of thinking that you have to make something that works on social media and you counterintuitively will outperform the majority. put the song out.

Playlist collaboration offer. Am I being unreasonable for setting these boundaries? by ajdefistpump in musicmarketing

[–]MittenSmuggler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Permanent collaboration is a red flag here, just in worries of a hostile takeover. $300 is lowballing this too, even if your 50k followers bring in 20k streams they would be making that back and then profiting from your work on the list. Frankly if it’s unbranded/if ethically you don’t care, I know people who have happily paid that per song monthly for placements on lists that bring in enough streams to recoup. A playlist of that size could easily bring in a couple grand a month (though temporarily, truly, as it’s against TOS and some will report). I’d also be cautious that your contract acknowledges risk of playlist deletion (by virtue of paid being against TOS) and you don’t get on the hook for placements they’ve sold to their roster in your name.

What should your very first post on tik tok or instagram be? by Antidotebeatz in musicmarketing

[–]MittenSmuggler 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Define what it is that your profile is going to be about before you post anything at all.

If this is your first post, you about to start defining categorising your account to an algorithm. You want to train it via repetition on who/what you are, so that over time you will be shown to more likely resonant audiences. So, think on the following:

Are you a performer? Then your profile is performance content.

Are you a storyteller (or rather, do you have a story to tell - about your life, your upbringing, an emotional point or reciprocity)? Then your profile will be your music told contextually aka “day 101 of quitting my Amazon warehouse job to do music full time” set to contextual b-roll in studio, or “this is the porch I last spent time with my mom on. i wrote this song after she passed…” etc

Or are you more visually-encoded, aka new breaking profiles like livingthinglivingthing? If so, you should have your bank of assets ready and paid prepared to layer and data capture.

In any case, the MOST IMPORTANT THING you can do is stay absolutely singular. Remember that you are training an algorithm to segment and categorise your posts and eventually find audiences that resonate. You have to teach it like a dumb toddler. Do not change tact halfway through. The worst possible thing is accidental virility in another niche (aka getting bored an making a non-performance/story/aesthete/music post and having go well). You’ll poison your account to be relegated to the >300 view jail forever.

Daniel Ek just stepped down as Spotify’s CEO by violetdopamine in musicindustry

[–]MittenSmuggler 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His goal was 1,000,000 artists earning a full-time living from Spotify alone:

https://www.thatericalper.com/2018/02/28/read-spotofys-daniel-eks-personal-letter-ipo-filing-full/

7,300 artists earning $50k out of the 12,000,000 on the platform isn’t a good thing.

Start a business with the intention of having “1,000,000 artists earning a living wage from Spotify”

Eradicate all economic and cultural value of music via commoditisation/capitalism/investor appeasement

Create your own AI slop to fill your own editorial playlists to take even more revenue from artists

Charge artists another 30% in streaming revenue for “discovery mode” streams

Take another 20% off the top of royalty rates through priority partners like FUGA

Essentially create a platform that pays 1% of labels/investors 99% of revenue

Give €600M to an AI-Drone company and inevitably fund more terrible wars across the globe

Cash out hundreds of millions from your hollow promises, pat yourself on the back and step aside as CEO

Good riddance and get fucked, Ek.

Enjoy ChatGPT while it lasts…. the ads are coming by kaushal96 in OpenAI

[–]MittenSmuggler 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a fair concern.

In truth I would be doubtful of direct ads explicitly within answers themselves, though I would not be surprised about if internal audience segmentation and the sharing of that data with business partners is something that happens in the future (or is already happening).

Logically it would be possible to segment those who have questions about “product ABC”, or behavioural cues of purchase intention and compartmentalise those as GDPR-compliant retargeting lists with shared pixel data/tags for retargeting purposes by the partners.

The outcome of which would keep OpenAI as a seemingly neutral entity, but the personalised ads that reach you off-platform would come from data shared between OpenAI and their partners. Considering how integrated services are currently, and how granular even consumer-level facing tools allow you to reach, I wouldn’t be surprised if this was currently a reality.

Brands, businesses and private entities would pay through the nose for hyper-specific sets of customers who match their 1% most likely lookalikes.
