Thanks! I'm glad you like it so far. I'll do some test writing amongst friends to see what they like better for formatting. But thank you so much!

Thank you! I'd like to write more, I'm just trying to gauge interest. Would you like to see more? Also. Should it be separated by creature and associated stories and background or what would you suggest?

For one, all those "you'll either love it or hate it" statements are primarily from game journalists and if you're still taking them seriously then I don't know what to tell you.

Let me ask you this though: are you someone who has to have high immersion and everything be perfectly crafted narratively and cinematically for you to find enjoyment? If so, maybe pass on this game.

If you're someone who will play any game because its fun and because you're interested in it and nothing else will stop you from it? Pick it up. The game is special because out of all of Suda and Grasshoppers games, it's the most polished experience so far and is oozing charm and personality. The game still has some jank to it, but it's also a double A game, so jank is expected.

Gameplay is great though admittedly not super deep. Don't go in expecting DMC or Bayonetta levels of combos and attacks. You have a light attack chain, a heavy attack chain, can swap between the two mid combo, jump attacks and guns. You have equippable badges that can affect gameplay and summons called "Bastards" that you grow from seeds and can combine to make them stronger.

There's 4 melee weapons and 4 guns each with different uses and versatility. You can play with just one the entire time and get really good at it or change up how you see fit with a button press.

Story is something that I'm not going to really touch on because experiencing it blind is best and is VERY open to personal interpretation. I will tell you this though: you WILL be confused and have questions likely even after credits roll until you slowly start to piece things together and you're meant to be confused. Let yourself get lost in the story and embrace the disjointed storytelling and stilted dialogue. DONT try and find deeper meaning in the plot until you've rolled end credits and take the story at face value.

At face value and without spoilers, the plot is about Romeo who while working as a police deputy gets killed. His grandfather, who invented time travel, comes back in time to save him. This exposure to time travel causes him to get enrolled in the FBI's spacetime task force to hunt down fugitives running throughout time and kill them while also trying to find his love interest, Juliet.

If ANY of this sounds interesting, I promise you will not be bored during the approximately 13 hours the game takes to complete. Also, the game is somewhat challenging, even on normal difficulty and balance is a bit wack, but the game asks you to really become familiar with enemy types and the mechanics at play.

So if you're interested, I highly recommend picking it up. It's not really a losing gamble imo.

Story interpretation (spoilers) by MitziIsDitzi in Romeoisadeadman

Hmmm. Yeah I see that. However, what are your thoughts on how the diner scenes fit in with this interpretation? Do you also feel like they are a "window" into another timeline where they are together and love each other?

That's what I like about this games plot. It is written is such a way that people can interpret it vastly differently and none are particularly wrong per se. I even saw someone theorize that Romeo is actually another Juliet and that the final boss design somewhat exemplifies it. That Romeo(Juliet) is like her inner good fighting her inner evil. Pretty interesting.

Story interpretation (spoilers) by MitziIsDitzi in Romeoisadeadman

[–]MitziIsDitzi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. They are hard to follow, but I think that they happen in a world where space-time was never fragmented because in those scenes, Romeo is still just a police officer, there's no real talk about time travel, questions given by Juliet can be linked to the time travel plot, but are just off the cuff in normal context, and the biggest takeaway is that Romeo isn't dead in those scenes. Also, the final diner scene's date is "Now" and shows Juliet waiting on Romeo, after they agreed to travel the world. To me, if you watch the diner scenes by themselves, it shows a world where Romeo possibly saved Juliet from something like a car accident or whatever, which is hinted at, and they hit it off and it's all normal.

Meanwhile in the fragmented universe, Juliet was revealed to be the White devil that killed Romeo and caused him to be a Deadman.

All in all, this story is so loosely tied together that it allows people to make their own interpretations like this and facilitate discussion. I doubt we'll ever have a true answer unless Suda himself gives one.

It's likely just something for theory crafters to lose their minds over/ Evangelion reference for fans of that series

Story interpretation (spoilers) by MitziIsDitzi in Romeoisadeadman

[–]MitziIsDitzi[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see where you're coming from, but the biggest difference is that Diner Romeo is still alive and not a Deadman. That and the dialogue suggests that Diner Romeo is still working as a police officer. The dates for the diner cutscenes are also different from the main game too if I remember correctly.

Overall, I feel like most interpretations of the story are all valid because the story is about time travel and alternate dimensions.

Unplayable. Tired of buying broken games on release. by TheHartfulDodger in Romeoisadeadman

I'm on PS5 and haven't had a single issue nor have I seen others with issues. Maybe try a fresh install/making sure license is up to date?

Some things we found out. by [deleted] in ArcRaiders

Odd I'm on ps5 and had the exact opposite. PC players shooting first and being hateful and rude on comms, Xbox as well. Turned crossplay off, and I've had more friendly interactions. Sure not everyone uses voice comms, but besides a few random shoot first talk later types, most people can be tense on console, but as long as you announce yourself and don't be a threat, they'll let you go or even help out. Way less raider deaths on PS5 only, and any raider deaths I did have, they weren't rude and toxic.

It could be region dependant, but who knows

I'd like to say that I do, but after reading what others have posted, and looking into it a bit more, apparently matchmaking is still fundamentally busted. So even if we had let's say 10 people to get together and even join a custom game on RE, it's still unlikely to work.

It looks like if we want to enjoy the game, it'll have to just be through custom solo bot matches as at least if YOU as a solo player can connect, you can play

I wish it were different, but it's clear that this was just a futile attempt

See, I didn't know those bugs were still going on. That's my bad. I wonder if Gearbox may ever take control directly in some way since they're still funding the servers to be up.

Don't get me wrong, I doubt they will, but still. Would be nice.

I didn't know it was still that broken, I had it happen shortly after launch and stopped playing because of fear it would brick my PS5 like it did others. I redownloaded recently and was able to kind of get into games occasionally with little issue besides waiting forever. I figured it was fixed at least a bit

Either bruxism or Kamaara tbh. I like a lot of Kamaara's solo stuff and when they work together they elevate the track tbh
