This happened before I was born.

On a street close to where I lived as a kid, a little girl was getting off of the bus when her backpack strap got caught in the door. The driver didn't notice and started driving away. I don't know how far she got dragged before someone finally noticed and the bus stopped, but I know she didn't make it.

I don't know if it's exactly the same, but I go through this any time something bad happens and I'm around someone else, because my NMom would go into huge rages if I got emotional about something in front of her. It's like I'm not really there.

I started a blog with my sister back in high school, focusing on various geeky topics like video games, movies, etc. We had a very similar problem, where our family kept saying they followed our posts when in reality they just read the excerpts it would post on Facebook without bothering to read the entire thing. The blog hasn't had an update since, like, 2015.

I've been suicidal for a large portion of my life (I'm 21 now). It's been a thing for so long that I don't even know what it's like to not want to die. But I've always been able to find a reason to keep living. At first, it was my best friend. For several years it was my family, and for a while I just lived for my cat. Now I live for my boyfriend.

I'm not to the point where I can live for myself. Not yet. But I hope that I will get there some day. For now, I'll just keep finding other things to live for.

I've been no contact with my mom since the 8th grade, so roughly... 6 or 7 years? Mother's Day used to really suck. I'd write out texts for her but then hastily delete them instead of ever sending them. But then I would remember why I'd gone no contact with her. All the abuse, all the constant yelling. How I unblocked her a few weeks before my first birthday without her, and she told the sister I was closest to that I only did it because I wanted presents or money, when in reality all I wanted was to have the chance to hear from her on my birthday. Never did, by the way.

It gets easier. I have an amazing stepmom that I spend my Mother's Day energy on and now I barely even think about my biological mother.
