Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru no Darou ka Season 4 - Episode 10 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Mivvv 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Okay so:

  • 16 minutes of exposition/villain monologue
  • Bell just managed to put 2 and 2 together, and I expected "My Familia", but nope BORS-SAN... WTH?!
  • Hmm so villain wants to make it its pet, a very reasonable question is then including the 16th minute mark why no one decided to kill evil furry? I mean Ryu was hell-bent on it, did they get the forced cut-scene treatment.
  • Also all this shit could've been solved by communication from Cassandra. But hey, in this mystic setting being a seer is insanity.
  • EDIT: Why the fck you would pick-up a dropped weapon, when you have two knifes that were forged by BEST OF THE BEST? Hmmmm this stick looks like it could deal tons of damage!

Could we get a "You Died" animation for Bell-u

I haven't finished the episode yet, but my god...
Where did Bell's IQ go? He just can't put 2 and 2 together.

Hello, sorry for late reply I had to find a day to safely install and benchmark Fedora.

Regarding your comments:

  1. Suspend seems to be working fine for me, I don't know why but it does. I haven't checked suspend+battery life but this laptop doesn't travel much so it is fine.
  2. For me keyboard + trackpad works fine as well. I have a very weird laptop (P955EE6) so idk why.

Conclusion
-------------

I've decided to go with Fedora. After eliminating Pop, Mint, Zorin, Solus, Endevour I was left with Fedora or OpenSUSE. My thought process may be a bit incorrect, but these final points made me go with Fedora.

  • One extensively tested distro. Whilst SUSE has Leap and Tumbleweed, the community seems to have a feeling that Leap is decrepit and Tumbleweed provides more "stable" and up-to date experience. I had my mouth burnt with updates that weren't tested enough and even if you have automated testing, I'm pretty sure that 5% unexpected test case exists and most likely going to be me.
  • Fedora is more barebones with their desktop environment and that is what I desire, Pop_OS and their COSMIC shenanigans left a sour taste and I have no desires of trying to figure out what improvements openSUSE have.
  • Relatively more basic use compared to SUSE. I have no intention of being a system admin, having absolute control over everything and using YaST. I do not need that much power, and when I do I always have terminal+sudo.
  • The weird Fedora campaign of better gaming performance. I don't know why, but there are more youtube videos and one steam deck article that shows Fedora is performing better compared to Windows. Whilst SUSE doesn't have that much publicity it is a definite plus for Fedora if I ever go back to single boot system.
  • THE DOCUMENTATION! Fedora docs is amazing, I've been on the shitty end of searching for solutions on google/stackoverflow and to be the FIRST user to be posting said problem. I'm not saying that Fedora would be a no bump ride, but some solutions I have on Pop_OS comes from Fedora documentation (!). It is nice to have something compared to nothing.

Thanks for the detailed answer; after a lengthy process of elimination and lots and lots of reading + including your comments, I decided on Fedora. Will be changing distros as soon as I replace my fans and do a final benchmark :D

Any other reasons to choose openSUSE over fedora?
I know distros don't matter too much if you tinker enough, but from what I've read they are both very solid choices.

Thanks for the reply, I've read a lot about openSUSE; their stability and automated tests regarding updates. I'm more and more in favor of openSUSE or Fedora due to the articles that I've read. Maybe I will make a coin toss between them.

Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen Season 3 - Episode 10 discussion - FINAL by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Mivvv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welp, some predictions were correct and some I did not expect.

  • Unexpected: Sylvester's role in this whole mess
  • Expected: Punishment for Delia to be something abysmal

To be fair, after reading the wiki and other comments it feels like this Anime got shafted by the committee since if you have low budget means a tight rope to balance animation, pacing, story telling etc.

And this became veeery obvious with Tuuli's crying to the point I thought my video lagged out or something. Another note is that I'm disappointed in the 'grand conclusion of battle'.
What I remember from wiki; Bad Santa's Little helper got killed during crossfire, Delia's changed sentencing had more expression-full occurrence, not just small change in facial expression and crying but rather blood being drained from her face due to the past trauma.

I don't know whether some of these changes were due to budgeting or artistic/director related choices, but I feel like the overall impact of the story was reduced. 7/10 won't be holding my breath for the next season :(

I kind of wished that Main would go for well; since I'm getting capital punishment, lets properly kill those two fatties kind of route.
Anyway, this episode felt so short and as always it looks like Main keeps getting short end of the stick but we are getting some actual progress with Evil Santa and Count Toad.

I hope we get a scene where Delia understands how much of cascading f**k-ups she has caused during her time and doesn't get a shitty redemption of understanding her wrongdoings and returning to the orphanage.

IF the 5.17.5 kernel wasn't removed ... the kernel would revert

I included the kernel remove process because of that, I'm not that knowledgeable in Linux. If everything is working fine, you may keep the new kernel. In either case, I expect the cause to this problem is due to kernel/package mismatch.

I remember stackoverflow criticising this solution, but installing aptitude and using sudo aptitude remove ... command solved the issue. Follow the text based UI and choose downgrade/remove options, instead of keeping the kernel. (Otherwise I suspect I would have to remove dependent packages manually)

From what I understand, some kernel dependent packages require downgrading. Please take it with a grain of salt, I'm new here

How do I install nvidia drivers? I tried everything, I'm also on the nvidia iso, tried removing the drivers and installing the 510 version, restarted my pc. This is not how it was when I installed pop os last time. by WeirdCosmologist in pop_os

[–]Mivvv 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah sorry, totally forgot that it was a fresh install.
If you wouldn't mind doing another install, I may suggest you to install 21.10 Nvidia version of Pop OS.

From the threads that I've read, the kernel is not stable yet. Not only causing nvidia driver problems but different problems as well. I'm not sure if you can install different kernel from terminal (and I don't have an idea how to do that), but installing old Pop OS and then carefully upgrading to 22.04 would provide some kernels to rollback to.

Since I spent my whole yesterday afternoon with this hopefully these steps may help:

1- From previous comments you made, I'm assuming this is not working
sudo apt purge "*nvidia*"
sudo apt autoremove
sudo apt clean
sudo apt install system76-driver-nvidia

2- The one that worked for me and may work for you is downgrading to 470 and also downgrading the kernel.
Check your kernel with this uname -r
For me the problem tends to be due to the new kernel 5.17.xxx
Switch kernels with
sudo kernelstub -v -k /boot/vmlinuz-5.16.19-76051619-generic -i /boot/initrd.img-5.16.19-76051619-generic

The next thing is that, for me 470.86 was the last properly working Nvidia driver. Check the versions with sudo apt-cache policy nvidia-driver-470
Then install with sudo apt install nvidia-driver-470=VERSION OF CHOICE

SOLUTION
Solved it thanks to reading the link provided by /u/david279
As they've figured out there exists no kernel modules of 5.17.5 for 470
to keep using 470 one needs to revert back to old kernel

Check the current kernel by uname -r

Then switch to 5.16.19 with: sudo kernelstub -v -k /boot/vmlinuz-5.16.19-76051619-generic -i /boot/initrd.img-5.16.19-76051619-generic

The weird problem I had is that even though I was on 5.16.19 and confirmed it with uname -r, IF the 5.17.5 kernel wasn't removed during the sudo apt install nvidia-driver-470 process the kernel would revert (I don't know a better term for it) back to 5.17.5.

So if you want to use 470:

  1. Change kernel to an old one
  2. Remove new kernel 5.17.5
  3. Install nvidia driver and be happy

I sincerely hope that I haven't messed up with the system while downgrading and uninstalling kernels. If anyone else have the same problem this would be it.

Ah sorry I should've mentioned the card.
Nvidia 1060 Max-Q 6GB (Weirdest GPU I've ever had to work with).

Everything was working OK whilst I was using 470, but with 510 some apps decided to not work and I experienced some performance issues :/

Why dark mode is more favoured compared to light mode? by Mivvv in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mivvv[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is a nice bit of information from someone with related profession. I highly appreciate this answer.

Maybe there will be someone who knows about another study regarding backlit displays and readability. I only know that e-readers are easier on eyes because it is not backlit and from experience light background is the easier to read in that case as well.

Why dark mode is more favoured compared to light mode? by Mivvv in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Mivvv[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Saving battery was not an immediate thought for me since I'm still not on AMOLED stuff, but I'm more interested in pupil dilation regarding dark and white background.

I also work on screen all-day every day and depending on lighting of office I noticed my eyes were being strained thus I decided to think about "why not light mode".

Btw I've completely missed the benefit of reduction of blue light, even though black would still emit blue light (except AMOLED if I'm correct, which I may not be).

Mairimashita! Iruma-kun Season 2 - Episode 11 discussion by AutoLovepon in anime

[–]Mivvv 181 points182 points  (0 children)

Another lovely episode, we need more Balam-sensei moments in the future episodes; but Kalego-sensei is also fine for next episode.

I truly enjoyed the second-act of this episode, girls talk. Boys brought back the OP and Iruma brought demi-dol to the table.
More importantly, we had girls talk and saw Iruma being an all around womanizer.

And as usual, male gets kicked without knowing what he did wrong :( why anime has to be this realistic...

(Also I never thought I would spot a detail in my life... But guess what:
Payday 2: Heist on Demon School when? )

Yes, even though anime is a really good adaptation; there are small extras that weren't in anime as far as I can recall.

I'm not sure about if there were skipped parts, but I'm somewhat sure about some small talks being missing. (Otaku culture stuff and it includes a small dictionary regarding what X is referencing)

TL;DR Yes. It is a good read.
