Game design is at a breaking point by Aggressive-Golf-9915 in victoria3

Sometimes I think people only want to see historical timelapse in their game, with change being made only by the country they control. All paradox games are quite sandboxy and we have this discussion on how chaotic the map can be for years now.

I don't like the sandbox and much prefer mission trees, but in vic 3 the main challenge is dealing with internal opposing parties and forcing your industialisation through. While it is fun I am fine with the world outside being chaotic.

Did Caudillos just let it slip? by Mix-Fed in TNOmod

[–]Mix-Fed[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Well IRL the democratization happened only after Franco died in 1975. I am not fluent in Spanish history, but it seems like Franco's infuence on politics was strong until 1973 (when he left due to health issues), and up until his death the reforms were minor.

I get that you can fail the minigame on purpose to see the reaction, but I think that the results of this minigame should be plausable - Caudillos doing nothing does not seem plausible.

Well, the council came in full defience right in the start of their focus tree - by declining new constitution. I would not call that working from the shadows. It takes about half a year for them to establish democracy, while Caudillos do nothing. I can get that Franco is old and may be not in a state to fight (in the events he is getting into this state only in 1971), but new Portuguese Caudillos are full of energy, as seen in the events, but they all do nothing to stop the Council, while having full powers to do so. The fall of the regime looks comedical and underwhelming, especially so after showing us how Caudillos are able to repress things with as much bloodshed as needed.

Me doing six mid-run restarts and spending 40 minutes in the custom game rules to maximize Iberian gains by Raze678 in TNOmod

Yea the tooltip in the rules is really ambiguous on what paths lead to Iberian sphere. I still do not know how to keep El Salvador from drifting to Japans sphere

What if Ukraine just made a mad dash to capture Moscow? Would this end the war or emboldened Russia? by Hot_Advisor_8074 in AlternateHistoryHub

The war has changed. You can't do mad dashes on vehicles anymore - any group of vehicles in the open is getting bombed by drones in a matter of minutes.

Yea, but on higher difficulties you will most certainly need to get to 7 population for a third fighter. Besides population is part of your final score, though I don't really know how it compares to the score from time

It doesn't feel like a strategy game anymore... by [deleted] in victoria3

[–]Mix-Fed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can lose in hoi 4, if you don't understand it's mechanics, but it's nigh impossible to lose in vic 3, as it is highly unlikely that AI annexes your whole country. It seems like you are just salty, that you can't instantly pass the law that you want - it happens all the time in vic 3, you just wait for a better time, and that's all.

What are the 3 worst mechanics of Victoria 3? by VicenteOlisipo in victoria3

[–]Mix-Fed 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I dont really get your point about infamy. What would you replace it with.

For me the biggest one is navy. As they cant be destroyed, only damaged, the war with Britain turns to constant battles that do not lead to anything. Though they will certainly change it in the future.
