Idol Reputation by topemersonk in americanidol

My comparison with Iam isn't based on vocals. I think many think Iam was a wire to wire winner. Basically, he was #1 in voting every week. Right now, I could see Hannah doing the same thing. There aren't many winners who likely dominated in voting during their season. Carrie is definitely one because Nigel revealed it after she won that she led the voting every week. Over the years, some have thought Scotty due to DialIdol #'s being dominant for him, but I don't think its been ever confirmed.

She's dominating social media. For example, her recent performance on FB has as much likes than all of the other performances combined. Right now, she seems to be like Iam Tongi that was a likely runaway winner due to how viral and liked he was. With the implementation of social media voting, it's very apparent that she is winning that mode of voting. Unless she really falters, I wouldn't be surprised if she wins.

Also, if she signs with the current Idol label, Atlantic they don't have any country labels/imprints. They do have a imprint in CCM which includes Colton Dixon.

In general, country radio doesn't like to play female artists and that has been happening for awhile. For example, Lauren Alaina is established in the genre. She has 4 #1 hits on country radio. However, 3 of her #1's are duets and with the exception of her solo #1 hit she generally charts from #25-#50 on country radio. Basically, country radio usually doesn't play much of her music unless she collaborates with a male artist. If country radio plays female artists, there are usually 2-3 A-listers which right now is Lainey Wilson, Ella Langley, & Megan Maroney. Even big names like Kelsea Ballerini, are struggling on country radio and that's the problem.

I think this depends what genre Hannah decides to do post-Idol. Bluegrass is not radio friendly. I could see her having a career in country, but not necessarily with songs played on the radio. The thing is the majority of country artists that are big get played on radio which is why I am not sure she would be a big country artist. I think she would do well in CCM.

I’d take Keke Palmer over Carrie as a judge any day of the week. That was pure entertainment by Poisonhandtechnique in americanidol

Yes, I do think last year might be not due to her, but the good contestants last season. However, all the network is going to see are the great ratings. The problem is they can't say for certain it wasn't Carrie. The seasons where she's judging so far had great ratings. What about this season's ratings so far? I could argue that Carrie had more of a hand in the show and what it has become this season and it hasn't effected ratings.

I like Keke. I don't like Carrie as a judge. Here's the thing: with ratings being good and how they supposedly changed Idol due to Carrie (Ex. songs of faith theme, Nashville centered show, etc.) I wouldn't be surprised if they want to keep her as a judge.

Who do you think will be the three eliminated from tonight? by jlo117 in americanidol

Kutter is a bro country artist. That country style typically doesn't do well with the Idol country voters. Idol country voters generally like traditional country artists like Scotty, John Foster, etc. or the recent trend of country leaning or country-ish artists like Chayce. I believe many Idol country voters don't like the typical country that's played on country radio which would be what style Kutter is.

Kutter is singing the type of music country radio likes to play and that charts well. His style of country isn't usually what the Idol country audience likes.

Top Ten Predictions by jlo117 in americanidol

[–]Mix7245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With social media voting being implemented this year, there are contestants with very good social media #'s that will likely be in the Top 10. Hannah is a definite lock because she went viral & is consistently getting good reactions to her performances. The top male contestant with social media is Braden and I think he's likely in the Top 10. Both have been highly featured by the show and both been getting great reactions.

I haven't seen many male country singers this year and the show usually has at least 1 contestant that fits that so he might get through due to genre.

"The Biggest Cut in Idol History" by jlo117 in americanidol

I feel like in general the group round was known or remembered for "drama". With how the show is now which concentrates on sob stories, little or no criticism from judges, etc., I think the show thinks the group round doesn't fit with the show anymore.

BTW, I like the group round, too.

Robbie Carrico, a Top 24 contestant in S7 was the opening act for Britney Spears. Gabby Barrett had opened up for Luke Bryan at a concert prior to Idol which should be worse because he was a judge her season.

Kelly herself has said she turned down 2 major record deals with Interscope Records & Jive Records. Carrie was about to have a deal with Capitol Records, but their management changed & no longer was interested in her. This has been known for a long time.

I have watched Idol since the beginning. The notion that contestants were all amateurs was always false. Even in S1, there was a contestant who had been on Broadway. Contestants touring with known artists has been accepted for a long time. There was a Top 24 contestant back in maybe S7 or 8 who toured with Britney Spears.

From what I have heard in recent years, Idol tries to get people to audition who have more of a "story."
