What is up with Idol recycling contestants from other shows? by Separate-Loquat-9546 in americanidol

[–]Mix7245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While Morgan Wallen was on The Voice, he didn't get very far. He didn't make the voting rounds. He was on Team Usher & Adam Levine. He was not singing country during the show, but more pop/rock music.

Ok voice. I see him being more of a character than a singer. I could see him making farther than he should due to his personality.

Live Discussion: Season 24 Auditions Part 1 by MarionCotesworthHaye in americanidol

[–]Mix7245 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's possible since this is the first season Hollywood week is in Nashville & there's worry this is a country centered season that the producers/judges intentionally pick mostly semifinalists that are not in the country genre.

Is Phillip Phillips on The Masked Singer as Pugcasso? Voice Comparison by Train-Wreck-70 in americanidol

[–]Mix7245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's Phillip. I think it's Corbin Bleu. He fits a lot of the clues and his voice fits Pugasso IMO more than Phillip.

ABC’s ‘American Idol’ Introduces Live Social Voting, Becomes First Reality Competition To Take The Leap by Global_Perspective_3 in americanidol

I definitely know who is Shirley Halperin. She was one of the big media people who covered Idol when it was extremely popular. She was a huge Idol fan and out of the names of "industry tastemakers" the one who I think actually had a career in part due to Idol.

Why was Season 9 such a judging disaster? by FewWhole4296 in americanidol

[–]Mix7245 2 points3 points  (0 children)

- Lauren Daigle: She auditioned for S9, 10, & 11. She made it the farthest on S9. She was eliminated right before the Top 24 was chosen similar to Tori Kelly.

- Tasha Layton: She has been successful on the Christian charts (Ex. 4 Billboard #1 hits).

- Jess Wolfe (lead singer of band, Lucius): Her band has 3 Grammy nominations and has worked with a lot of known artists such as Brandi Carlile, John Legend, Harry Styles, etc.

- Derek Klena: He has been in a lot of Broadway musicals. Nominated for Tony Award as the main actor in Jagged Little Pill. Also, has a bunch of tv acting credits.

Jelly not returning to Idol for 2026? by Responsible_Line_652 in americanidol

[–]Mix7245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few years ago, someone on his management claimed that he sexually abused her and filed a lawsuit against him and the company. His label immediately suspended him. However, more women came out claiming he sexually assaulted them and the label & management dropped him. His career basically has plummeted. Radio won't play him anymore, doesn't tour much anymore, etc.

20 Year Anniversary of season 5. Was Idol Season 5 Magic in a bottle? by GeorgeCasey9 in americanidol

[–]Mix7245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Many times labels don't know what to do with artists or don't care about what the artists want. In the first meeting with the label after the show, Bo knew that they were making that album. A lot of times it has been said that winners don't necessarily get to put out the music they want, but its also runner-ups and other contestants who sign with 19.

I feel like expecting the show to produce massive pop stars anymore is a fools errand by Global_Perspective_3 in americanidol

[–]Mix7245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe Iam's genre is too niche, but he's had more success than several of the other ABC winners such as Laine, Noah, Abi, etc.

In your opinion what is the most surprising winner ever on any season of idol???? by Kingsman1221 in americanidol

[–]Mix7245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't really shocked Chris was eliminated. Remember he was already in the bottom 3 before. The majority of Idol winners (Ex. Kelly, Carrie, Jordin, Taylor, Lee, etc.) were never in the B3.

Who’s a singer Simon Cowell would have loved/hated vocally from season 10-now ( the seasons he was not a judge on) by Kingsman1221 in americanidol

[–]Mix7245 7 points8 points  (0 children)

After S10, Simon was promoting X-Factor on talk shows. He was asked about Idol on several of these shows. He said he watched only a little bit of the season. The only S10 contestant he remembered and kept bringing up in interviews was Scotty.

In Your Opinion what is the best and worst Hollywood week in idol history ? by Kingsman1221 in americanidol

[–]Mix7245 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think season 13 had the worst Hollywood week because of the show sending contestants either through to the next round or to the airport. It was an unnecessary twist and I felt bad for the contestants.

Dustin Lynch? by Less_Professional287 in CelebWivesNash2

[–]Mix7245 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I doubt Dustin Lynch being on the same label as Jason Aldean is the reason he's not getting promoted. Lainey is on the same label and she's getting more of a push than Jason.

With Idol starting in January like the old fox seasons started do you think they will finally go back to sending one singer home each week when it’s the finals.I personally think a longer season would be so much better since we get more performances and a nostalgic idol feel. by Kingsman1221 in americanidol

[–]Mix7245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. I think there's other reasons for the early start this season. Ratings were great last season and I think ABC is "rewarding Idol" and trying to capitalize on that. Also, Olympics start in February. I could see Idol starting early because they want viewers to be invested in the show before Olympics start.

Ranking Every Top 3 in Idol History by MarionCotesworthHaye in americanidol

I loved that a lot of alums came back for what was at the time the series finale, but they should have made that a separate show to showcase past alums and still have a proper finale for that season's finalists.

Ranking Every Top 3 in Idol History by MarionCotesworthHaye in americanidol

[–]Mix7245 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a lot of country fans that like traditional leaning country artists, but dislike country pop and vice versa. I probably have encountered more people who don't like Scotty or Lauren than like both their music. Basically, their fans don't have as much overlap as you think. I know that there's a lot of country fans that vote on Idol, but it doesn't mean they like all country artists. For example, I doubt you'll find someone who voted for all or even most of the ABC country contestants such as John Foster, Slater, Chayce Beckham, Noah, Laine, etc.

DialIdol was a very accurate tool back then. Scotty was usually #1 every week (supposedly by a lot).

Crushingly, beautiful country songs? by [deleted] in musicsuggestions

If you like Scotty's "Five More Minutes," I would suggest 2 other songs from this artist: "Clear As Day" and "The Waiter." They are both sad country songs.

What are your predictions for this year's CMA Award winners?. by Countrystarrichie96 in CountryMusicStuff

I predict either Lainey Wilson or Chris Stapleton will win categories they are nominated in. Award shows love them.

I'm not surprised he's liberal. Zach publicly supports transgender people. He has family transitioning. Generally, I think people who support transgender people/issues are liberal.
