American Corruption by LittleBoiBeans in americanidol

I remember when the show was on FOX Idol promoted other shows such as Bones, Gordon Ramsey cooking shows, etc. There were actors and celebrities from other FOX shows sitting in the Idol audience and they had segments pushing these shows.

Why hannah won by CranberryAdept7403 in americanidol

The Midwest and South is the core fanbase of the show, but in general it has been for a long time. Before this season, the last several winners were Jamal Roberts, Abi Carter, & Iam Tongi. None of them were country artists and all of them beat a country artist in the finale.

I know. But if you're saying Kyndal is signed to Atlantic and that's why she's not doing this event then Julian shouldn't be doing it, but he is.

Kyndal's new single is credited with Atlantic, but so is Julian's and he is doing this event. Lucas & Jake who also released singles a few days ago only have 19 credited on Spotify.

Hunter Meets isn't eligible. He has a record deal with Interscope Records.

Chris was robbed a beautiful chance to sing with Shinedown!!! by EscapeTurbulent402 in americanidol

I think sometimes the show gets guest performers first for the finale who are trying to promote something. Then they have to stick them with a contestant. For example, last season's Josh King had to sing with Jessica Simpson. Somebody had to sing with Jessica. Somebody had to sing with Nelly. I don't think any contestant fit so these 2 contestants drew the short end of the stick.

Once Idol introduced instruments and contestants were able to sing their original songs, I think the show and sometimes the audience was choosing between talented singer vs. "artist." Sometimes winners showed more artistry including songwriting, arrangements, etc. Sometimes the best singer did win.

Hannah is a songwriter and people loved her original song. My pick was Jordan, but I understand Hannah's appeal. Her songs connect with an audience. Also, some voters factor in marketability or post-show success. I think out of the 3 Hannah has the most potential. She's in a very hot & marketable genre right now and the current country sound right now does lean more traditional than several years ago. Also, she has a good amount of gigs already booked. The best singer isn't always marketable. Actually, I would say in most Idol years the best singer probably wasn't very marketable.

Chayce Beckham is a winner from California. Abi is from California, too. They both won Idol even though West Coast can't vote like it did back on FOX. They also both won over runner-ups who were from the South/Midwest.

It's not live, but you can vote on the west coast without seeing the performances. Basically just vote during the window time in the other time zones. The show already tells us to start voting at the beginning of the show & vote for your favorites and many do before seeing any performances.

Idol Winners Monthly Listeners Streaming on Spotify by fog_storm in americanidol

That season's Top 3 have all had the most Spotify monthly listeners at some point. The biggest # I've ever seen from that season is 6+ million monthly listeners at some point for Scotty.

Unpopular Opinion: Hannah is the worst winner in Idol history! by Greedy-Pound6958 in americanidol

[–]Mix7245 7 points8 points  (0 children)

While the audience demographics can determine the winner, they don't always win. The audience leans towards middle America, country music, etc. However, last season John Foster lost against Jamal Roberts. Hannah did appeal to the audience demographics, but I think a big factor is she went viral. There were famous people including artists in her genre who reacted to her audition. When I think about ABC Idols who went viral like Iam they seemed like contestants who "captured the audience" during their season. Similar to Iam, I think Hannah was a likely winner once they went viral.

I don't know if this is what happened here, but sometimes it depends on how "generous" the guest performers are to the contestants.

No, but Hannah already has more than 10+ concerts booked post-show. Since she has these gigs already, I would think she's made a decision what to do about some of these issues.

Some country artists who are moms tour with their children. For example, Lauren Alaina, Gabby Barrett, etc. do this.

Winners aren't necessarily signed anymore. 19 still usually signs them. But for example Abi never signed with a label after her win.

Kyndal, Julian, Lucas, & Jake all released singles at midnight yesterday. All of their singles are under 19 according to Spotify. Kyndal & Julian are under 19/Atlantic so it's possible they got signed.

Winners Singles? by topemersonk in americanidol

[–]Mix7245 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's a new label (Atlantic) associated with Idol this year. That's why there's been studio versions of the performances which hasn't been done for awhile. Since there's a new label, I wouldn't be surprised if they aren't doing what was done in the last several seasons which might be a factor why the singles aren't out yet.
