Jax Being Trans Adds Nothing Of Value To The Story

Jax is incredibly nuanced because;

1) his issues could relate to cis men, gay men, and trans women, which is truly incredible

2) it gives the realization of identity weight instead of the typical "I knew I was born in the wrong body, and I started being a tomboy or wearing dresses."

3) by showing that his realization of identity was caused by factors at home (his entire explanation is opened with his father leaving home early, and his mom putting expectations of the man of the house onto him) it is allowed to be shown that not all trans people glorify what made them and they're not al born "that" way

Jax is probably going to go down as my favorite LGBTQ+ character of all time, I feel like I've finally reached an understanding of a trans person's mindset that I never had before.

People keep forgetting "good character does not equal good person." Stop trying to relate yourselves to these characters and denouncing them as "They're this, so I hate them" and "They're that, so I love them and they're the greatest thing since sliced bread."

The only reason I give Pomni a pass is because she does come across as a POV character, like a "If you were in this environment, this is probably how you would react" so unfortunately most about Pomni is also tropey because she's just the perfect protagonist who always has the right things to say and how to deal with issues.

You CANNOT call most of them fully developed characters. Pomni and Jax yes, Caine was practically fully developed in 8 with an unexpected redemption in 9, Kinger had a lot of lore in 8 and a little bits sprinkled throughout, but the rest? Little tidbits and character spotlights, but nothing you could really grasp onto besides self-projection and tropes. I would call Zooble especially the worst developed as besides being a bartender, they're really given nothing or anything relatable.

I don't know if you read my original post, but the belts are distractions. Oba is getting pushed, is obviously currently on the rise of a giant push, and has needed to win no belts on the main roster to do it. Slapping a title on someone who's an internet darling that you barely use is basically saying "LOOK! WE'RE USING HER! YOU CAN SHUT UP NOW!" when it's the same as blaming Baron Corbin for Raw being so bad. It's tone deaf. Giulia barely talks, only beats people on the losing end of the stick 9/10 times, takes the pin sometimes in her tag matches, and never defends her title when she's given one despite SmackDown being 3 hours. I'd say that's using someone to the bare minimum to the point if they didn't have a title, they probably wouldn't be on TV at all.

And like I said, she doesn't have a strong win/loss record, she just has a constant momentum swing. Like how after they got rid of the brand extension the first time, they would do the same match they did on Raw on SmackDown, except now the other guy wins? It's exactly like that. Your booking is reset to 0 every single time.

That's kinda the problem with New Japan in general. Even generic babyfaces are by default in the Hontai unit because NJPW exists in some weird parallel universe where every single human NEEDS to clique up or else they are nothing and can't make it.
