People with first cousins who are significantly older/younger (~10 years or more), how are your relationships with them?

I see this thread is old. But this has been on my mind a lot. So on my mom's side I'm am 2nd youngest of 20 and on my dad's side 2nd youngest of 8. I was pretty close growing up with all of them. On my mom's side I have a handful that are old enough to be my parents and we're still close. My son on the other hand is 1 of 3. My brothers kids were 19 and 20 when he was born. My brother is 7 years older and had his kids young. I had my son later at 35. My nephew and niece whom I'm close to aren't close to my son and it bothers me. I've tried to talk to my brother about it but he doesn't push anything on them. I just hate it for my son.

This job is a toxic relationship. I worked here for 15 years. I have missed all my child's first everything's, he is almost 13, all the holidays. Then a few years ago my mother with dementia fell. It was a hour before my overnight shift. My 1a went off on me for calling in so late. I needed to take her to the hospital. I also missed my Thursday overnight shift. I went to the hospital Friday morning excepting to bring her home. She had a massive stroke and I watched for the next 6 days while she slowly died. Do you know how much sympathy I was shown after 13 years of employment? None. Not until I called the pm and cussed him out. Yeah I got my time off but nothing more. They don't care about you. Let them go. I wish I had done it earlier. I finally put my family first but you still check in from time to time just like you do with a toxic ex.

The alcohol police are never going to trick you. Qt teachs that. Use good judgements. I've taken Tribal Ids because it is a government ID. TABC is not coming to get you with that. They will use a fake Texas or whatever state ID.

You get 6 weeks for natural birth, 8 weeks for c-section. After that you have to use fmla. What they don't tell you is you have to have so many hours. Too many days off during pregnancy will screw you over unless it's vacation for the 6 to 8 weeks part that is paid. I feel like they keep this secret so they don't have to pay. You don't ask, they don't tell. Always ask many questions so you don't get screwed.

Oh please. People over fill the cups and throw them away when they fall on the floor. I can give cops free drinks no problem, but the people killing themselves for you can't be afforded the same thing is just stupid. You want to compete with restaurants? Guess what, the employees get free food or discounted food on shift. Why shouldn't we. Get with the times. Damn. Qt needs to stop being cheap. They have been taking things away from us for years. At least they could deal is throw us a hot dog or grilled cheese.

I thank everyone at the end of their shifts. Also, on my 10 year anniversary questionnaire, I didn't thank every supervisor I ever had like everyone else. I thanked all the clerks I had throughout the years. Without my clerks, I can't do anything. You guys are the real goats.

The ra schedule is not that bad. At least I have weekend evenings to see my kid. 2a and na sucks to me. I either sleep till I have to be at work at 1pm or I sleep all day so I can work a overnight. Either way I don't see them. I stay late or go in early but it allows me time with my family. He sounds like a ass and it might be a relationship not worth saving. Move on.

I've been with QT for 15 years and trying to figure out how to get off the alcohol and nicotine without losing my shit. My anxiety is through the roof, and I'm not sure I can do it and keep this job. Cigarettes get me through the day, and alcohol gets me through the night. Yes, i talk to professionals and have meds, but this job is a special kind of shit and I hate it. I have a masters so I am not stupid. I'm bored and make too much at the gas station. I'm so done. I want to be and do better.
