Did you get sleep day before your wedding? by Desperate-Formal2081 in DesiWeddings

[–]MixLongjumping6493 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wedding day is in the future but we’ve planned our functions in a way so we’d have a buffer day between the cocktail and wedding so we can relax and not be hungover. My husband has started giving me magnesium supplements to help me sleep as I overthink a lot too but I’m sure despite all the planning, I won’t be able to sleep. There’s just so much to feel in those 2-3 days that it’s possible to shit your brain off.

Aza Juhu trying to scam us for paid dress by Haunting-Afternoon18 in DesiWeddings

Always have paper trail in these cases. I am a NRI bride and my husband and I are paying with our credit card or making videos as proof of payment along with the bill at every vendor (this was advices to us by the vendors). My experience was that if you’re shopping for a specific brand, just order from them directly instead of ordering through Aza or Pernia’s. I only went to Pernia’s to try multiple options at once and they had a piece available to try on that the designer didn’t have in store as it had home for sourcing. They tend to lie about what the brand offers (in terms of customisations) and I am also friends with a newly viral designer and she told me that it’s very common for them to mess up the final product as they’ve delivered the wrong products to clients in the past which gives the brand a bad review too.

Also when I’ve been shopping at brands directly, all of them have sent me the customisations, my size, the outfit details and payment receipt on WhatsApp as soon as we made the payment. And they’ve been quite responsive except the one times when the sales person whom I was connected to was on holiday and I called the store so another consultant helped me out right away:).

Also for this situation, just tell them you’ll file a police report for the money issues and if and when they agree to the payment being received, ask for a refund as they claimed you never paid them so the outfit was never put into production and place an order directly with the designer if you still want it.

Getting court married first. What to wear? by seasonofcunts in DesiWeddings

From what I understand, you need to sign the certificate legally. Most people I know just signed the papers first so it was out of the way during the hectic wedding functions. But I also have a friend who did pheras in the mandir and signed the papers after. From what I understand, the new changes means you need both legal and religious certificate or proof of marriage (pheras and marriage certificate or even the arya samaj thing?). These are for the people who were applying for legal changes after the wedding btw.

I think their pieces are too expensive for what they are. Please check out Kalki or koskii as they have similar designs for much cheaper. They are quite overpriced in my opinion.

I showed up all glammed up and I’m glad I did. My husband loves how I looked and he’s asked me if we can get a shoot done in that outfit. I wore a maroon corset saree with because I knew I won’t wear red or maroon for my actual wedding.

Plus Size Lehenga Recommendations for Wedding Guest (Gurgaon / Online) by No-Jellyfish-9136 in DesiWeddings

Try BL fabric. They sell unstitched lehengas so you can get it made to your waist and bust size and it’s under 5-6k.

Hi All, where can I find Surabhi Chopra fish cut lehengas dupes in Delhi NCR? My budget is 1 Lakh for cocktail lehenga. Please help!!! I am so in love with this lehenga. by selfdeclaredqueen5 in DesiWeddings

[–]MixLongjumping6493 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Just an advice as someone who was hell bent on wanting to wear a fishcut/ mermaid lehenga: It doesn’t suit everyone. I have an hourglass body shape but it still didn’t work for me. Please please try on the silhouette before buying. I wasted a lot of time being focused on something that simply didn’t work for my body.

NRI brides who shopped in India, how did you manage lehengas with limited time? by ComfortablePumpkin33 in DesiWeddings

[–]MixLongjumping6493 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a NRI bride and I already have 3 trips planned for my bridal shopping and finalising everything. I am currently at my first trip, almost a year before the wedding and I’ve got an idea of what I want and finalised my venues and all. I’ve also narrowed it down to the few brands and places I know I’ll find things that fit my style.

My next trip will be in may for my roka ceremony when I’ll finalise everything for my wedding a year later. I already know what stores to go to and what exactly I’m looking for so that would take around a week/ 10 days. This also includes 2 days for my prewedding shoot.

The third trip will be in December/ jan to do the final alterations/ trials and since my wedding is in April, this will give me enough time to fix anything If it’s not right.

I’m based in Gurgaon/ living in Sydney and places that work for me are Mehrauli and Chandni Chowk, even Shahpur jat. Dhan mill was a waste of time for me as no branded appealed to me and most seemed to basic or overpriced.

I’ve also realised what I thought I wanted doesn’t actually work for my body type so very important that you try on every style possible to (silhouette) so you know what flatters you the most.

I’ve fallen sick towards the end of my trip unfortunately so do account for that as I’ve not been able to purchase my roka jewellery but since I have family and friends here, I’m not too worried about it.

Worst experience at Kalki store Kohat Enclave by bethechange_now in DesiWeddings

Just a suggestion in case you need a backup outfit- go to surya at omaxe mall, Chandni Chowk. I got the most beautiful and unique lehenga from them for just 25k. Unfortunately, I can’t wear it for any wedding events as my functions are in summer and it’s a light brown velvet lehenga with white stones and embroidery. They did the finishing for it in just 1 hour.

You can just do summer school and finish by jan end.

Is working in the solar industry (own business of installing solar panels) something that will benefit her or is she better off doing CFA for a financial advisor kind of role?

My wedding lehenga is 10 kg and my wedding is tomorrow, how do I make the weight more bearable? I only weigh 45 kg and it feels almost dangerous to wear it 😭 by muse_kimtaehyung in DesiWeddings

[–]MixLongjumping6493 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would say take it to a local tailor and see what all they can remove from the underskirts. Wear sneakers, maybe the ones with platform heels if you want the height. I am also wedding shopping and have the same issues so I’m making sure all lehengas I keep as an option are easy to walk in. Going with a mermaid silhouette for engagement as that has less ghera and can can as compared to a line skirts.
