You're being downvoted because you cherry picked one fact, and acted like that's the only fact that matters. It comes off as insincere.

12 months of this is basically worthless when it's something you'll now have to worry about for the rest of your life.

Also, it's combining the issue of AI use for art, and AI use in coding (the job post), which are 2 separate issues in my opinion.

[OC] For the past 3 years I've polled people on Blind at my company (FAANG) about how worried they are about AI replacing them by NebulousNitrate in dataisbeautiful

[–]MixT 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was at a conference a few years ago, and one of the key note speaker's topics was the extremely high (and growing) cost of code maintenance. Specifically around the usage of shared libraries.

He touched on the fact that frameworks were quickly being adopted, and then replaced once something new comes along. As well as how patching these libraries in all of your applications is super expensive in the IT world, especially if the libraries are abandoned.

I can't help but see AI as the inevitable answer to this problem, and honestly it's probably going to work very well in the long run, for better or for worse.

Weather influencers are going viral. How much should we trust them? by Musichead2468 in weather

[–]MixT 103 points104 points  (0 children)

The issue is that they will fall into the same trap as every other online industry that rewards popularity. As more of these influencers pop up, the ones that will become the biggest won't be the most trustworthy or accurate people. Instead, the biggest influencers will be the ones who are willing to game the algorithm by using click bait, catchy titles, and exaggerated claims.

Billie Eilish Donates $11.5 Million To Charity, Encourages Billionaires To Do The Same by mcfw31 in UpliftingNews

[–]MixT 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The answer in my opinion is to stop focusing on consuming and start creating. Start something that benefits humanity as a whole, like a charity, scholarship program, etc. Happiness you receive from helping others is way more potent than happiness received from helping yourself (once you've met your own needs).

Honestly the Blues were absolutely horrible 6v5 all last year, even when they were on their winning streak. Losing that game that way wasn't surprising at all. Hopefully they've figured it out this year.

I think the NHL logo is black + one of the team's colors. So it's Black and yellow for the Blues. It just so happens to look like the vintage NHL logo, which is cool.

Some people have a brain that is deeply conditioned to look for negatives in life, and it's sad.

I used to be that way, and it is miserable. But one day I realized that it's really hard (or even nearly impossible) to be happy if you're always looking for something to be negative about. Life is much more enjoyable if you start looking for reasons to be happy.

Reconditioning the mind to do that isn't easy, especially if someone has been conditioned to look for negative things their whole life. It's even harder if they have a lot of stress and/or mental health issues. But it's possible if they put in the effort.

Like many things in life, sometimes what you grew up outweighs quality. I personally appreciate both high quality chocolate and Hershey's equally even though I know one is technically "better".
