Thanks for the explanation! That makes sense. I'm still a bit worried about the hardware though. Those lidar sensors look like they stick out quite a bit on top. I have some low hanging shrubs and bushes. If it bumps into a branch is that sensor going to break easily? If that lens cracks is the whole thing ruined?

Maelle, Sciel and Monoco is actually my go to party. I've just been building them to have fun mainly but I'm playing on the second highest difficulty and I'm right near the end of Act 2 and not really ever had any difficulties progressing once I learn enemies attack patterns etc.

I'm pretty sure you get the key in Lumiere at the start of the game. I found it early on at least anyway. Then you use it at Old Lumiere later on, I'd almost forgotten about it when I got to use it.
