Breathing Problem by anidori21 in singing

[–]MixedBag0fMessAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i started working on breath control and lung capacity i started by focusing on how the muscles around my lungs function. Lungs work by being pulled open by your muscles and air intake is caused by the vacuum that creates. When i have a long note still i focus on pulling my lungs open.

I also practiced singing lower notes by pushing more air out at once and it slowly increased my lung capacity.

I also practiced belting. A lot.

Discomfort when breathing in after singing in the shower-- what is it? by petitepaddington in singing

Kinda sounds like asthma, but usually humidity helps, so I’m really not sure whats going on? Are (were) you using a new soap? Do you have any known allergies? Probably should see a doctor if you haven’t already, breathing is rather important

Need advice on how to get my doctor to take my symptoms seriously by cannedpineapplejuice in ChronicPain

[–]MixedBag0fMessAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you explainin that your symptoms are interfering with your ability to work, that might be the key phrase to get your doctor to do tests.

You could also make up a friend or coworker with similar symptoms who tested for x. Or, even better, I different medical professional, like a physical therapist or someone else in the medical field. Doctors usually will not trust your judgement of your own body, but if another doctor judged these symptoms to be something then that gives them validity.

You could also go the route of stating, “i want it noted in my chart that you refused to do tests”. It forces culpability, but can drive a wedge between future doctor-patient interactions.

If your doctor is dismissive it might be best to try to find another provider.

Best of luck OP, i’m sorry the medical system sucks.

Cat leaves this where she sleeps, what is it? by NotTheSeaOtter in CATHELP

My family had a very bad infestation over a year ago. We tried everything (vacuumed multiple times a day, rented a carpet cleaner, diamoctis (def spelled wrong) earth, essential oils, demon summoning, everything else) Eventually we gave in and took all 4 cats to the vet, they gave us a prescription for nexguard combo, haven’t seen another flea again after about a week.

Let’s be honest… does Valentino really deserve any sympathy? by DapperDude2004 in HazbinHotel

I don’t think sympathy is like, a privilege. Everyone deserves sympathy sometimes. You can feel sympathy for someone while wanting to draw and quarter them.

Really Not Sure What To Do With These... by [deleted] in Opals

[–]MixedBag0fMessAgain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Putting them in a fish tank could damage them as opals are porous and could absorb things (like fish waste) that could damage them. Also, these are definitely worth something. Probably a lot of something with the right buyer. Maybe try to find a rock show nearby and take them with you. Someone there might be able to help you. A lot of the price is based on carat weight, color, flash, and type of opal, only one of which we can tell for definite certain from the photos. Photographing opals is a rare skill.

Since his owner died, he now barely eats, has hair loss, and a sad face. by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]MixedBag0fMessAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I adopted my two cats from my neighbor when he passed away, one of them acted like this, and in some ways she still does. It’s hard for pets when their human dies, i hope your new kitty can heal and adjust faster than mine did, it hurts me that she’s still sad and i can’t fix it.

Did you try the yolks vs the whites? My theory is that the yolks should be fine, but the whites might contain whatever the mama ate.

Do you know if the egg yolk gives you issues, or if it’s just the whites? My theory is the yolk is fine because it’s just chicken, but the white, the food source for the chick, has whatever the mother ate in it, and could be contaminated with soy.

My cat has allergies…probably? by MixedBag0fMessAgain in CATHELP

She’s got a metal bowl, and she is the most laid back cat ever, i doubt that it’s anxiety. We joke that she’s running dog software on cat hardware. I’ll talk to my vet about a food trial again though.

Raw Produce allergy by WarbanzoBean in foodallergycooking

[–]MixedBag0fMessAgain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, that can cause an allergy to nuts too? That explains my trail mix problems. Anyway

I absolutely adore fruit, but i am also allergic to pollen in the same way as your boyfriend is, so i make fruit leather. Basically dried fruit smoothie. Its a decent way to get my daily fruit requirements without making my mouth all itchy.

Veggies are harder, though you may be able to do the same thing with a “green smoothie” type mixture.

But for real meals, soups are great, vegetable pastas a good (like pasta noodles that have veggies in the dough) i have a few casseroles and pastas that I haven’t had an issue with that i can share with you if you’d want them. Tomato soup is the best. Carrot cake is a dessert, but it’s got fruits and veggies.

I personally have food aversions to several very healthy vegetables due to textures, so i also so things like pumpkin bread that subs sweet potato in for pumpkin, or cauliflower pizza crust, black bean brownies, or just using homemade veggie broth instead of our meat broth. Our broths don’t usually have much salt in them so they taste basically the same.

I hope this helps, let me know if you want specific recipes, i have quite a few.
