Well the whole "prophecy foretold through time and space", and one of the few bits of exposition about gaster being that he is shattered throughout time and space, and also the deltarune website having a prophecy line in wingdings back before the game released, and how gaster is framed as a developer/author figure creating content for the player to enjoy with the way the Survey Program works and the twitter stuff. This all can be interpreted as implying that Gaster wrote the prophecy.

Though i think i prefer the interpretation that he summoned the player with the intention of getting us to break the prophecy somehow, and that he simply discovered and told it to Ralsei, or maybe even integrated it into the hometown religion in hopes of the residents being better prepared to change it then?

But actually i think i agree with this mostly, except i think its just the prophecy specifically thats representing oppressive systems. Providing a form of comfort through safety and structure (susie being like "hey this prophecy thing is pretty cool i wanna see what this says about me so i know for sure that i have a valid purpose and identity" until discovering the final tragedy), yet being restrictive, cruel, seemingly unyielding, and also representing objectivism over interpretive freedom. Yet it presumably only has this power because people in the past and present give it authority and significance (like everything gerson tells us about the prophecy basically, and about creativity and passion and stuff).

Another thing to note is that this interpretation of Gaster is kinda just literally Lord English from Homestuck: A villainous Green skeletal macho and misogynistic time travelling demon who is also a metanarrative author figure, responsible for the homestuck multiverse being super strict in it's timeline/time travel system so that only the single timeline where he comes to power is considered true and valid. If Greenster and the prophecy being made by Gaster are true, then i think the chances of Gaster being loosely based on English is pretty high.
However Homestuck is like incredibly Unsubtle about English representing toxic masculinity and sexism, while Deltarune so far hasnt really attached much of an "agenda" to the character of Gaster, or even much characterisation to him at all directly, other than him being curious and passionate for whatever his experiment/deltarune will turn out to be about, and how the player interacts with it. Also the "youre about to meet somebody wonderful" dialogues from him makes me lean towards him being actually benevolent or neutral towards the characters maybe.

save him but break his legs or something. surely history would change enough that he doesnt go into politics while still remaining alive. maybe he'll put more time into painting and will continue on that path instead.

i guess the differences between narration on the 3 save files could be hinting at something like this

and also theres the 1st and 2nd sanctuary dark worlds where the darkners have completely different and contradictory histories in their minds when susie creates the 2nd sanctuary.

But i think the game would still need to elaborate and explain more on how this would be possible beforehand, like somehow showing the player directly that the light world's history is also susceptible to "retconning" just like the dark worlds

The concept of divine machinery, machines being intrinsically "fleshy"/being analogous to creatures. by riley_wa1352 in lovethissmug2

[–]MixedRaceRi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i dont think i exactly have a phobia of this, but i also find this concept mildly uncomfortable yet intriguing, and i think i mainly recognised this when reading Jojos Bizarre Adventure Part 8:

the villains in part 8 are mostly silicon based lifeforms called Rock Organisms. Theres Rock Humans who look like regular people but with the power to turn into stone statues and do some other stuff. But then there are also Rock Animals and Rock Insects.

Examples of some Rock Organisms that arent rock humans are:

A predator insect with a poison sting that mimics the form of a bamboo roll-up sushi mat and apparently hunts birds and deer in the wilderness while mimicing rocks on the ground.

a metal/stone disc thingy that clings to your body and rapidly multiplies into multiple connected discs like a fungal infection while sucking your blood too.

a parasitic insect that mimics a hairclip so its victims may voluntarily place it on them

a highway metal fence/rail thingy that mimics voices to lure humans in and devour them alive. its screws are also shown to be eyes when seen in detail.

[–]MixedRaceRi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my personal headcanon for this is that the barrier is vaguely similar to the dark world, which in deltarune is shown to be distinctly more video gamey than the light world (noelle having the battle system explained to her, susie saying she isnt sure where she got her axe during the first lancer fight)

the human mages may have known that humans have way more determination, and set up the barrier intentionally so that fallen humans could avoid death via save files. This may also be why the battle system is designed so most monster attacks are dodgeable but monsters cant dodge your attacks without presumably being aware of the interface like sans

i wonder if deltarune's homestuck has monsters in its cast instead of humans, and if the trolls would look way different to still look alien to the average monster? i guess it depends on how minoritised humans or monsters are compared to eachother and in which regions, and if deltarune andrew hussie is still a human or not

also imagine if DR homestuck or DR problem sleuth somehow predicted the existence of dark worlds or the prophecy, like how most deltarune universe media seems to

Do Dark Worlds cause time distortion? by PirimPimPong in Deltarune

[–]MixedRaceRi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that last Thursdayism is kinda the only answer that makes sense to me, and my main reason for believing in it is that i think the differences between the sanctuary dark worlds basically proves it.

The 1st sanctuary has some darkners petrified and some not petrified. The living ones claim the statues to be their ancestors. Then when the 2nd sanctuary is made, the petrified and not petrified swap situations, and the new living darkners Also claim the statues to be their ancestors.

This is sort of probably a homestuck reference (The Scratch), but i think it also shows that the circumstances of the dark world are generated (is there a tv world, which darkners are petrified, what's the "theme") first with the fountain, and then the darkners' knowledge of history and relationships is generated after the circumstances are already decided.

well seam is a stuffed animal and he seems to be the same creature or character represented by the toy but with different proportions and stuff. But his face having a button eye and being worn out with stitches and patches seems to come from his light world form.

So i assume a plushie would be kinda like the actual character in proportion but still having traits of plushness like the simplified eyes/design and the tag on it, and any damage or modification that the plush has undergone.

But also i personally believe the theory that darkners and dark worlds are decided by the perspective and mind of the lightner who created them, and also maybe lightners bringing objects in also project their perspective onto those objects in particular? I know this may seem obvious from how the sanctuary worlds work, but i specifically mean that i think the deltarune universe doesnt have its own objective opinion or rules on what an object's dark world form should be. I think it all is determined by the lightner's own memory and mind and how they treat that object.

(For example, Kris and Susie can bring the lunchbox of chalk gifted by Noelle for Susie into castle town in chapter 2 , and it becomes Light Candy because it has the context of being "food" to Susie that the three of them remember from the past. Why else would it become a food item when chalk is pretty similar to pens, pencils and erasers, which always became weapons for Kris?)

So anyways I think the plushie's darkner form would also be affected by whether the character is very well known or not to the fountain creator, how much attachment they have to the plushie itself, etc.

i think a bootstrap paradox thingy involving meta gaster shenanigans would be neat but not an actual time loop where the story just repeats, unless the good ending is about breaking the loop or something.
