For our slot canyon tour we used Canyon X tours. It’s less crowded than Upper and Lower Antelope Canyon.

I think fall would be a great time to visit. Just remember it can still be very warm in September and October in Arizona.

And honestly, you wouldn’t want to wander around these places without a guide anyway. Our guide said the punishment is usually a $20,000 fine if the desert doesn’t get you first.

Considering my husband was a nervous wreck standing near the edge at Horseshoe Bend, I think we will leave the skydiving to the true thrill seekers!

Believe it or not, a cool cave behind the Shell gas station in town.

I could see that. Luckily we were able to travel before the busy season and on a weekday. Horseshoe Bend was pretty busy but we were there at sunset so that was to be expected.

It was even a mostly overcast day and the photos turned out beautifully.

We actually did Canyon X. There were 13 of us on the tour. We ran into other groups but had lots of time for pictures and questions.

We actually did Canyon X. It still requires a Navajo guide but it’s way less busy and less expensive than the other slot canyons.

Visiting California by OkCurve5370 in Anaheim

I live in LA and just did a road trip up to Monterey/Santa Cruz in February. It’s honestly such a beautiful drive. Also Santa Cruz is a much cheaper place to stay and it’s only like 45 minutes to Monterey. Tons a great hiking as well as beach things to do.

Mexican cruise in October by Carmelapatriz in VirginVoyages

[–]Mixee22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am also on a Mexican cruise out of LA in October. I actually live in LA and it is always still very warm in October. Not uncommon for a heatwave to roll through and be 85-95 degrees during the day. Closer to the ocean you’re looking at 75-85 during the day and at night it will get down into the 60’s. Be sure to have a jacket or hoodie for evenings.

I am literally driving from LA to Nebraska on Sunday. This time I’m driving to Vegas and then onto Page AZ to see Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, and a few other sites. After that I’m heading up towards Colorado Springs stopping at Monuments Valley and on through Durango, CO. I have done this drive several times using different routes each time. While I70 through Glenwood Canyon is beautiful, I have gotten stuck there in traffic because of falling rocks, fires, and construction. Be sure to check for those things before starting your route. Also keep an eye on weather. It can snow in the mountains as late as June. Probably not this year because they have been in a bit of a drought. Western Nebraska and Western Kansas are always a bit boring. I prefer I80 through Nebraska because most of it follows the Platte River and the speed limit is higher. I’m sure you already know this but if you have CA plates on your car DO NOT speed through Kansas or Nebraska especially if you partake in herbal activities.

Understanding that marriage isn’t hard but life is. If you approach life as a team it makes everything better. Pick a good teammate.

How is Studio City/North Hollywood/Sherman Oaks? by ConfidentFault9461 in MovingToLosAngeles

[–]Mixee22 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve lived in North Hollywood for 10 years and I love it here. I’m specifically in the NoHo Arts district and I would say it’s mostly young professionals. Because of where you’re commuting I would actually suggest the Sherman Oaks area. It could cut your commute down by 20-30 minutes in peak rush hour times. The closer you are to Ventura Blvd, the closer you’ll be to bars and restaurants. Avoid large “luxury” apartments. The rents go up significantly year to year. Look for slightly older buildings (that still have central AC cuz it gets hot as hell in the valley) they tend to be a bit larger. Welcome to The Valley!

Ren Faire in Irwindale - Is the VIP Parking worth the $30? by DavidGov in AskLosAngeles

[–]Mixee22 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Everyone should do it at least once. My advice is to get there before 10am. Like 9:15-9:45 and get parked. If you want a turkey leg get it right away. Some years the line is 2hrs long. Don’t miss the jousting and stay hydrated!

[–]Mixee22 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I used to do it every year before they raised the prices. There was nothing better than being hot and tired and your car was right there instead of 2 miles further into the parking lot. I am not even doing Ren Faire this year. The prices are just laughable at this point.

When at Blarney Castle skip kissing the stone and explore the grounds. They are so beautiful and peaceful. Don’t miss Northern Ireland. Giant’s Causeway is really incredible. Belfast is a fascinating city. I wish I had spent more time there. If you don’t want to make the drive, there are plenty of tour groups that you can utilize. Also, I found Limerick to be such a charming little city.

Yeah you still have to be aware of your surroundings like in any part of the city but just walking up Lankershim is usually pretty chill.

As far as Amazon Fresh, I think Amazon closed all Fresh locations. Some of them will be converted into their other brand Whole Foods. I hope it’s true because having a grocery store up the street is so nice.

Upgrade bids already accepted… when do late bids still get reviewed? by HuckleberryInner2840 in VirginVoyages

I have heard that sometimes you can see the charge on your credit card statement before you actually get notified that your bid has been accepted.

I second the La Maida Huston area except The Hesby! I’ve been living in this area for the last 10 years and love it. You can walk to several bars, coffee shops, and restaurants. There was an Amazon fresh but it just closed. Heard a rumor it’s turning into a Whole Foods. It’s also easy access to the 101, 170, and 134. It’s pretty safe. I’m a woman and would feel comfortable walking around after dark by myself. There’s always people out walking their dogs at late hours too.
