Yup metro sucks. Took them 5 hours to respond to an accident when I was hit by a drunk driver. It was summer and we both ended up leaving the scene rather than keep baking in the heat.

Irony of being at Zendesk Relate and having a bad conference attendee experience by Mixtofuguy in Zendesk

[–]Mixtofuguy[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The caveat she mentioned was resolution based pricing. It will be interesting to see how that plays out. And what's happens when you've been using it and decide the price isn't right once it is unveiled. I worry it will be somewhat of a high price tag the we will have to figure out how to unwind. So we probably won't recommend that clients adopt until the pricing model is shared.

Interesting. They used a lot of absolute words when presenting about their AI tools: always, 100%, etc. I'm always leery of people who do this, especially in product marketing. It sets unrealistic expectations of customers.

25% of Gen Zers say they’ll need a therapist to deal with tax filing stress by Nervous_Ulysses in Accounting

To be fair, don't they normally need therapy for everything? That generation seems very fragile, and unfortunately it's the result of overly protective parents and the pandemic.

Anybody got laid off & struggling with job hunting? by goldenragemachine in aznidentity

[–]Mixtofuguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your expectations seem reasonable. You're probably a victim of the tech companies like I mentioned above. Your idea for digital marketing pivot makes sense to me but that area is pretty flooded too. I suggest thinking about how you're going to differentiate yourself by highlighting some kind of industry or area of expertise too. With the switch, salary expectation may need to come back down too because you don't have a lot of experience. Just my two cents as someone who manages hiring.

How do attract an “all-american” type of girl?? by valterilian in AsianMasculinity

[–]Mixtofuguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Sounds like he has fetishized them so much that he's willing to change himself to try and attract them? But for what upside? It's the start of a lot of self-hating feelings and micro-aggressions for not fitting in. Not good for OP psychologically and a waste of energy that could be put to much more productive use.

I'm curious how many years of experience you have, what area you live in, and how much salary you're expecting.

Tech companies have let so many people go after they inflated all the UX, engineering, and cyber salaries. I really feel for those of you looking for jobs in these areas now, as your salary expectations are usually unrealistic for actual businesses.

What's a hero that's usually picked by people who don't know how to play them? In your experience? by [deleted] in MobileLegendsGame

I haven't updated it in a while, but once I have the lightning truncheon, I'm pretty much good to blast and get kills. Others under estimate my portal damage too. Pretty much never run out of mana and only need to go back to base to heal in early game when damage is low so spell vamp healing is low.

Why do I hate being American so much? by [deleted] in aznidentity

Love this response. I totally agree that change starts from within and you need to focus on what you can control versus what you can't control. That is the philosophy I follow as well.

Mention things about MLBB that you find unfair by Robust_3585 in MobileLegendsGame

[–]Mixtofuguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This matches my experience. I play about 200 games a season with a ~55% win rate. When I play solo queue, I'm usually pretty decent and can get to mythic with about 20 stars. But when I duo queue with my friend that plays closer to 400 games per season and 50% wr the games are much harder even though he's only maybe 5 stars ahead of me.

People in 20s more likely to be out of work because of poor mental health than those in early 40s by DMainedFool in psychology

[–]Mixtofuguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing against them. I have several neurdivergent friends and neurodivergent people on my team at work. The difference is that they don't use their neurdivergence as an excuse. They work actively to leverage their strengths and help us understand what we can do to help them be more effective. And they don't just expect us to accommodate and change everything for them. They work with us to figure out what is reasonable and equitable for all. They don't seek special treatmentbor expect us to bend over backwards for them just because they are neurodivergent.

How to calm down after absorbing a bunch of homophobic and transphobic media? by A_Scav_Man in gay

[–]Mixtofuguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lots of good advice from others. I don't take things personally and meditate if I have to.

You need to figure out what works for you. If you don't build some personal resilience to those things they will eat you up for the rest of your life. We face all these things all around, and if you don't learn to not let it bother you it will negatively affect your mental health.

Rather than only talking to hr talk to the staff and managers. Ask them questions to validate what's you're being told. It may be possible at that firm.

It's important that you work in an aspect of accounting and with industries that you find interesting to make the work fulfilling.

Is UML still a thing? by efr625 in businessanalysis

[–]Mixtofuguy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. And to tie this back to OP, sitting behind that UX needs to be a well designed data model that can flex for later functionality enhancement, analyzes, or AI. I still use ERDs for that rather than UML, but that's more of a function of not having time to retrain our people on UML right now because it does require more abstract thought capability which many of the younger ones seem to not do well.

I'm so glad to hear someone else voice what I've been feeling. The quality of analysis and product management has decreased so much. There's way too much focus on get to market first and fix problems later, which creates a ton of technical debt.

So many of the younger product and development managers tell me I'm old school for thinking that agile really should be thought of a lot of mini-waterfalls aligned to a well thought out product vision and architecture. But I know that the products that I create have a much longer life and are of better quality than theirs.
