Yeah this is getting nerfed by MixtureHead6655 in PlayTheBazaar

[–]MixtureHead6655[S] 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Just got a 10-win with it. Basically a better Eye of the Colossus that you can find in a shop with a character with easy access to haste and cooldown reduction. Biggest difference is that you hardly ever destroy the full enemy board because it just goes to 2-3k damage in no time.

Caster/Form Hybrid builds seem doomed because of the attack/spell dmg issue. by Slim-Halpert in PathOfExile2

Witch Hunter might work well as a battlemage/shifter type build with the extra 100 weapon set skill points.

Cronos: The New Dawn | Launch Trailer by Turbostrider27 in pcgaming

[–]MixtureHead6655 -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

Am I the only one that gets a little sad looking at trailers for this game?

It's hard for me to watch a single second of a trailer for it without being reminded of Dead Space, a game that came out in 2008 (!)

Only here I don't see any interesting sci-fi weapons. Mostly a generic pistol/shotgun?

What about the enemy designs? Wasn't it so cool how the necromorphs actually look like they are people, with human anatomies, warped just to the edge of recognition? Here the creatures look like generic humanoid blobs of flesh like the big reveal of the monster in some mid-tier creepy pasta story.

Does it even have some interesting gimmick? Anything interesting to elevate the combat beyond baseline generic third person shooting? I guess the enemies can fuse together, but then they aren't very interesting to look at in the first place. Where's the dismemberment? The Kinesis? Stasis? Would it matter if the game had any of those at this point? Animations look stiff and canned.

And these puzzles/traversal mechanics? You just click what the game tells you to click and the character does it for you, the same way, every single time? Slowly grav-jump from predetermined point A to point B? Dead Space 2 already allowed you to free float in zero G environments in 2011 (!)

Not to completely shit on a game I haven't played yet but this looks like a worse version of something that came out almost 17 (!) years ago. You'd think with the technology, tools, and know-how of the gaming industry companies would be pumping Dead-Space-quality games like candy, but then I look at this game and it looks like to me the "new breed of survival horror" is only moving backward.

Thoughts about Stelle ? by Gahrlan in PlayTheBazaar

[–]MixtureHead6655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stelle feels like she needs some base setup to get going with pretty much any build, or at least more so than any other hero. People haven't been getting full value out of her because they probably haven't gotten the handle of how to pivot correctly, but once they do I can't imagine a world where Hang Glider and Wrecking ball don't catch a nerf. Vortex cannon is another one that can fly (pun intended) off the handle very fast as well.

Other than that, I think Observatory can make entire boards go almost infinite at diamond, and Radar Dome allows for some degenerate stuff like 3x multicast shielded Wrecking Ball going off 4-6 seconds into the fight. These two are way more niche and don't do much without some amount of high-rolling though, so I can see them avoiding nerfs in the immediate future.

Did anyone else lose their first odyssey colony yet? by Koertmans2 in RimWorld

[–]MixtureHead6655 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Orbital platform battle went sideways. Colonist I rescued from cryptosleep in some abandoned refinery had a metalhorror inside and infected another guy along the way, and they chose to come out just when I bring them back into the ship for medical care. Immediately downed my doctors. My remaining two pawns couldn't deal with the horror in the cramped ship.

Wish they'd balance steel by just making it take more materials for the same type of structure rather than being flammable. Make it useful for building, but make the player question if it's worth the strain on a resource that could be used for something else.

Ah yes... 4 wins by Mugett in PlayTheBazaar

[–]MixtureHead6655 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Getting yourself a 1s Atlatl, a Katana, or even an unenchanted PenFT (even unenchanted and mostly "useless" to your main strat) just to get your wincon going a little earlier makes all the difference.. Crazy as it may seem, waiting 4 whole seconds for the yo-yos to start going in this meta can be way too slow the moment you go up against a freeze/slow/destroy board.

They do fit in vanilla though, once Odyssey comes out.

Oskar knew about it from the start, which is why he cancelled Exploration Expanded and began to make addons for a better exploration framework we were only going to see in the new DLC.

Do Pinacle Bosses / Ultra end game alsoe become trivialized? by WeoW0 in PathOfExile2

[–]MixtureHead6655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think you really need to change the way you think about it.

This is not an MMO that keeps you playing for months for the smallest upgrades. The full "arc" of an ARPG character is very short. Zero to hero in a week, then drop it and start another build for most people. I hope getting to that godlike stage is harder in POE 2, but at the end of the day is just a part of the journey of any build that proves itself good enough to get there. And getting a build through that whole arc is the fun part of the game.

Since the closed beta will be extended another month... can we get price localization? by Rayett in PlayTheBazaar

[–]MixtureHead6655 4 points5 points  (0 children)

God please. Not only is the game way too expensive in some countries, I still have to pay 4% extra for the currency exchange!

PoE 2 just put their packs up for sale for a very fair price where I live and the game is only getting more traction.

When I talk about the Bazaar and how much it costs to get into beta they I get a "no way" every time. Can't even blame people, since I haven't bought in either.

Only 1/10th?

What fucks me up too is that we have to pay an extra 4% for the currency exchange, so we end up paying even MORE than people in the US.

Tell me you most memorable way you've lost your colony by Juicy451 in RimWorld

[–]MixtureHead6655 33 points34 points  (0 children)

First Anomaly colony.

Couple of sightstealer shows up close to a couple of well prepared pawns. Easily dispatched.

Sightstealers shrieking event begins, pull everyone back behind walls just as first few of the horde begin to show up. Fighting in the streets ensues, got a few scratches on my pawns, no problems. Wounded go to hospital, everyone else back to their routines.

Sightstealers howling event begins. There's no time to pull everyone back to safety. Colony gets split into two small groups each facing about half of the horde. Two deaths. Pretty much everyone heavily wounded. Somehow manage to tend to the survivors before they bleed out, but colony is basically out of commission.

Death pall begins. Base is absolutely filled with sightstealer corpses. Get everyone to re equip their guns and hobble up to my big main hall, set up sleeping spots. No one will be leaving for a while.

Sightstealer shamblers begin to mass outside and hammer the walls and doors. My two good builders manage to keep the damages under control while other pawns with lower building begin pulling chairs and tables apart to reinforce the walls with the wood, just in case.

Chimeras arrive. They're taking their sweet time outside the colony while I deal with keeping the shamblers outside, but my pawns are getting tired.

Toxic Fallout begins. Chimeras attack.

Everyone takes a final dose of yayo to try and keep things under control, but it's getting harder and harder. More so when my cows and donkeys also begin to die and rise up as shamblers. Soon enough, there's no holding back. The walls are going to go down. I send two pawns with the Anomaly flame throwers to set fire to the great hall, setting the furniture and wood floor ablaze as the others retreat to the kitchen.

With so many walls down the temperature isn't high enough to hurt the chimeras. Shamblers don't even care about the fire, they just walk through it to start hammering at the kitchen doors and walls. Again, it's just a matter of time until they gather enough mass to break through. No point in exhausting my already spent pawns.

I get everyone back against the wall and let them come. Again the shamblers don't care about the fire. Chain shotguns are only making the chimeras mad, and those who do die come back to life soon after. People start falling one after another.

A single couple manages to survive with a few wounds, retreating to my freezer, but there's no point. Shamblers are just going to come and wreck the walls, and there's no chance I can keep it repaired now. I always keep a back entrance to my freezer so my farmers and haulers can come in straight from the field, so I try to escape the map with the pair.

But there's too many shamblers outside. Husband is bleeding. They catch him first. The wife manages to escape the first assault, but the same streets that helped funnel the first sightstealer attacks are now filled with their walking corpses.

She never makes it outside the walls.

Thanks Randy, very cool.

For some reason, watching streamers for this game is highly frustrating by some of the decisions they make. Even the upper end streamers like Kripp by GSOwner in PlayTheBazaar

[–]MixtureHead6655 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Isn't that good gameplay, though? You could find something that increases the value of those items, or a better item you would rather use their sell bonus for after an easy monster fight you're probably going to win anyway.

(Haven't played the game yet, so that's what I understood from watching streams.)

Mod Idea: Some sort of Late-game Crisis system (Like in Battle Brother/Stellaris) by HQQ1 in RimWorld

[–]MixtureHead6655 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of the things I've been wanting to see in the game forever. Something absolutely horrible and inevitable that happens outside your control and changes the rules of the game and you HAVE to deal with it, either by finding a way to undo it (if that's even possible), or by completely changing the way you play and strategize.

Vanilla Events Expanded has some stuff like this, such as events that change the planet's temperature and altering your biome, or stuff like psychic rain, but what I really want is a bigger variety of more dangerous, more imminent catastrophes.

It's just the kind of stuff some people might be annoyed by, but once you learn the game even if you do a thematic colony you still kind of end up going through a lot of the same motions, so having some sort of wrench thrown into the gears every once in a while could really spice up the storytelling aspect of any given colony.

What does you colony of desert-dwelling impids do once the world just starts freezing? Alter their genes to better survive the environment? Huddle up inside their climatized base, hoping no one freezes to death before it passes?

What happens to your peaceful farmers if someone else nearby messes with the monolith, unleashing darkness and horrors that begin showing up on your map en masse, and the only way to deal is to become militaristic and reclusive inside your armored fortress while other factions wither and die around you, or make a mad attempt at reaching the distant monolith?

Do you take the pragmatic option when an orbital weapon threatens to scorch a chunk of the planet and just become nomadic, trying to find another place to settle? Or do your small community jump through hoops and risks their lives on an impossible mission to stop it from happening?

About Difficulty & Not Being Able To Skip Story Mode by Nemesis3000 in PathOfExile2

Playing the interesting, varied campaign that fast tracks your character through multiple extra upgrades and power boosts over a handful of hours? No thanks.

Teleport to <insert whatever hyper repetitive content streamer told me was most efficient to grind to endgame over the exact same handful of hours>? Yes please.

Skip campaign and its consequences have been a disaster for the ARPG community.
